If you’re going to do electoralism you have to understand that your vote is the main bargaining chip. The people who stay home do more to push the democrats left than someone going in to vote blue no matter who. It is a lot harder to convince people who have seen and interacted with him in real life of the demonisation that the British press has ran on him since he became Labour leader. You’re not going to be able to push Biden left when he already has your vote unconditionally. This line of that you have to vote for the centre right candidate this specific election as it is the most important and pivotal one is something that gets deployed every single election. I’ve even seen it with the fucking UK election as it is really important to make sure that the Lib Dems are in opposition instead of the tories for some fucking reason.

How do you even get to this point for fucking Joe Biden. Trump I can understand, he has some charisma and the promise of changing things as odious as he is. But Biden is just a doddering old man (not that he was better before as a loud bigot) that promises to maintain the status quo.

The line is drawn wherever they are. It is a lot easier to engage in lesser evilism when the lesser evil doesn’t directly affect you.

They could have just used the one that is simply true, incumbents are at a huge advantage in elections and are unlikely to be primaried unless they fuck up monumentally. Since the ghouls are unlikely to release their claws from power until they die we end up with older and older politicians.

Also, the changes in voter patterns they’re showing is largely just shifting demographics. It isn’t that people under 50 were more likely to vote in 96, it is that there are a lot more people over 50 as a percentage of the population.

Also Labour will waste no opportunity to distance themselves from anything Corbyn might have agreed with. She went out and attacked labour for being too trans friendly, which is part of legacy, so they’re now showing that they’re just as bigoted as the ‘respectable’ parties.
