It looks like a really good trolling shitpost, or like the schizo ramblings of the kind of people who actually ship themselves with celebrities or send threats to authors once their “head-canons” get demolished.

44·5 days agoIt’s yet another distro being shilled by god knows who on YouTube and other social media.
The fact that it’s being pushed so hard without anything of note about it is already suspicious to me.
Right wing newspapers love to do this shit where I live. We get into a crisis, people start skipping meals because they don’t have money, and they will talk about the health benefits of dieting and fasting 🙄

Linux@lemmy.world•This is Alyssa Rosenzweig. She reverse-engineered Apple's M1 GPU with no public documentation and also developed an open-source Linux driver.English
4·11 days agoWell, one is a GPU like this one that only has 2D support and it’s apparently perpetually stuck as experimental. The second one is a trackpad / numpad combo that someone else got working but because the code never got upstreamed it broke. The last one is an internal microphone that might have support in the kernel but it might be missing quirk flags or a small change in how it works.
The quote about how all evil needs to win is for good people to do nothing also explains perfectly well why the 1% keeps winning despite being an extremely small minority that is just as vulnerable to violence as anybody else.

7·11 days agoI admire people like this because even though there’s like 3 pieces of hardware I wish I could fix like this, I’ve got no clue where to start. And except for one, most are simpler devices than the M1 GPU.
I guess I’m a young woman now, if we go by the art of Metal Bringer.

710·20 days agoIt’s hard to feel sorry for these non profits even if it the data loss is a tragedy. It’s been years of people screaming that this kind of shit could happen. That not accepting the pain of early adoption of open source software would lead to the extreme pain of being locked out arbitrarily.

5·24 days agoIn my experience even one of the platforms with moronic developers eventually fixed their Firefox support. I dunno if the surge in Linux users had anything to do with it or not, or if it was because I would browser there, make my payments fail then switch to the Falkon browser every single time.

3·26 days agoThis only applies when you are talking about comparable things (E.g. two pieces of for-profit software that do the same thing). If they don’t seem to be the same thing, then you actually have to explain how would it happen if you want to be taken seriously.
Specially when we have examples of companies trying to tighten control over GPL software immediately getting forked and having to backtrack

8·28 days agoIt’s actually a bit infuriating after a decade of tech savvy people screaming that any data given to these corporations was eventually going to be used for something they wouldn’t like. This isn’t some unforseen consequence.

The problem is that they see people hating the torment nexus and then they assume it must be because they didn’t market it correctly.
Like "oh I guess they don’t like it because they can’t share it, let’s add a suffering multiplexer so they can enjoy it with friends and family*
