Netflixer?
…but I’d rather call them idiots: Usually those people are just too dumb to backup anything themselves (with very few exceptions).

German proverb applies here:
Selber schuld.
Not unsimilar to Schadenfreude and often accompanied by shrugging and even laughter…
PS: Sorry for your loss, though <3 At least you learned something more valuable :)
learned the importance of backup
Good. Sorry that you learned it the hard way but I guess all of us do ;)
And, yes, external drives are a scam - cheapest drives ever in cheapest cases ever, prone to everything. If you don’t believe it, then try to find out, what kind of hardware is built in and ask the manufacturer for technical data.
Still, they can be okay for other instances of your data (aka backup).
Can we have ban for these “SSD soon cheaper than HDD” postings?
Please? Pleeeze! I implore you, I can’t stand those people anymore… nargh!
Any source to this? Sounds reasonable but then one reads only about BBC being evil…
After all, for a “Broadcasting Corporation” it should be easy to leave some pointers somewhere…
Can you drop me a link regarding backup for iphones?
To be honest, I usually regard iphones (and apple in general) only with utter contempt for their lack of everything (had to work with apple for some years). But since you said “so easy with iphones”, that really piques my interest.
Pretty please^^ Pleeeze <3

Gee, I’d wish they’d offer that for the entire world or at least North America!
Try NeoBackup if you don’t trust google.
Backing up iphones is much easier due to the limited hardware/functionality ;p
shocked that there is no tech youtuber, forum, or news website
Yes, quite sad (but perhaps it’s just a common enough thing yet). Those “tech news” people are consistently jerks and hype any news speeds (PCIe 3/4/5) over TBW and reliability.
Pardon me for being so blunt but marketing whores would be the correct term ;)
Oh, sry, thought it was sufficiently answered by others. I am sure it can be reset. Just not sure how easy that is. I vaguely remember seeing such software at HDD oracle.
Figuring out spoofed data might not be so easy though (I doubt happy-happy-joy-joy-software like Samsung magician can). Perhaps doing one complete write can show some deficiencies (my experience is that it suffers with higher TBW).
PS: Sry for slightly off topic but what kind of SSD are you talking about? Some bad ass data center or just regular gamer WORM?
Care to share the offer? Any SSD offered should come with SMART report/screenshot or at least with “written”.
Besides, there are some very good SSD that have TBW like 2PB/TB, unlike the average gamer crap that hardly make 300 rewrites.
Excuse my blatant asking but is there any consumer protection in US and CA?
Like this:
https://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/consumers/shopping/guarantees-returns/index_en.htm
This actually pretty old law served me well as 14d are usually enough to test a drive quite thoroughly (including badblocks).
