Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a bill Wednesday that bans homeless people from setting up tents or sleeping in public spaces, as he compared the issue of homelessness to the chaos of spring break.

    So i assume this means they’ll have increased funding for those shelters and government encampments that will soon be overloaded with people they move in, right?

    edit: increase -> increased

        I mean if they are woke then they’re not sleeping in public so mission accomplished.

      The law says it can’t be enforced until the county has created shelters up to some standard. I have no idea what that standard is. So either it’s a bare piece of floor under a pavilion with a pot to piss in, or it’s never going to happen because that would cost the county money. Unless there is a GoP stooge that can maintain a shelter while pocketing 90% of the money.

        So this bill is purely for the strong “Message” it sends, but like everything it’s all hat and no cattle. Or maybe it should be all boot and no height.

    From the party that argues banning guns doesn’t work:

    Let’s ban homelessness.

    Just kidding. The point is to be cruel to other human beings.

    I think the appropriate action would be for all the homeless people to camp outside Ron Desantis House.
