It’s actually an extremely reliable stat historically. If a team (looking at you vikings) wins 8/10 games by less than three points, you can expect that eventually those games will go the other way.

Point differential is a pretty pointless stat. If it meant anything the Steelers( -29)wouldn’t be seeded ahead of the bills (+104) for a playoff spot.
