Hey, I’m moving to Zürich, Switerland soon and am looking at internet options for myself and my homelab. The 25g symmetric connection for CHF 64.75 per month looks absolutely amazing (this has got to be the best internet deal on earth, business or consumer!) – https://www.init7.net/en/internet/fiber7/ – I was wondering if anyone has experience with them.

I don’t want to be “that guy” but have you looked into your needs? Will you ever go beyond 10G? Because Salt has a very good offer where you have 10G symmetrical for 40Chf/month (if you also have mobile. 50 if you don’t). We have had that for years without issues.

Insane speed and price. Didn’t even know what speed was possible 😂 sounds like Switzerland is light years ahead of the UK

I use their 10Gbe service and can’t recommend them enough.

You may run into challenges finding hardware that can do routing at line speed with 25Gbe though.

I’ve been a loyal Fiber7 subscriber for years (1Gbe service before the 10Gbe and 25Gbe options became available)

Unfortunately I can’t use their product, but if I could I would in a heartbeat.

I’ve read so many good things from other people, they are very open and active on their website (https://blog.init7.net/de/) and in the networking community.

Of course 25G is an insane Speed for a residential (!) connection but having is better than needing :)

Also if you buy a 25G you will have to deal with a more advanced router, which has a 25G interface, I belive on their website they recommend Mikrotik which is nowhere near as easy to setup as Your Fritzbox or Netgear Router.

Let us know how it goess

Been with them for years, altough 1G is more than enough for my own needs. They are a fantastic, technically oriented provider. They participate in open peering, are active in the network communities etc. Highly recommended

Fuck I fucking hate isp and cell provider shit in Canada. 25 gig for less than 1 gig would cost.

    What the actual hell.

Don’t want to be negative, but good luck finding a place inside the 25g coverage area by init7. 25g is still uncommon, while 10g and 1g are widely available in urban areas. You can check wingo (they use swisscom PON network) and checkout also Yallo (working under sunrise). They have lots of promotions, most for mobile subscriptions but also for fixed networks too

I pay barely less than that for 900/50 asymetric cable. Oh, and that is the absolute fastest upload and download my house will get for at least a decade, probably more.

Jeez, I’m a bit jealous of that compared to my 1g/1g service in the UK at £260 per month! I hate to think how much a commercial router/firewall fast enough to handle those kind of speeds would be. As others have suggested, building your own and running something like pfsense or vyos is the way to go. Best of luck, you’re getting a fantastic deal there!
