Completely broke 5.1 audio. Only getting Multi-In audio codec on my Denon 3800 since the update, unless I force Dolby 5.1 in the audio settings. But, by doing so I lose the ability to have the Apple TV auto detect Dolby Atmos. Current setup is ATV 2nd Gen > Denon 3800 > LG C3. I’ve reported the issue to Apple, they agree something is wrong but cannot resolve it without a software fix.

Ive tested this with a number of movies on HBO Max, Netflix, Hulu, and Prime Video. My Firecube G3 and Shield Pro are outputting Dolby Surround, but the Apple TV outputs Multi-In on the same movies. The odd thing is I can still achieve Dolby Surround if I turn “audio descriptions” on. I also get Dolby Surround on movie trailers. The second I turn a movie on, Dolby Surround is gone.

Are you definitely on the latest beta? This was an issue that was fixed in the last release. This issue was reported a while ago and is now resolved for me.

In my mind if this is the one device that you rely on for your everyday viewing then you’ve got to be off your rocker to be running beta in the first place.

If you’re the sort of person who likes to find the bugs to make the product better then fill your boots, otherwise just be patient and wait for the official release.

Never do the tv os betas, if your iPad or iPhone screws up you can work around it. If your tv screws up the whole family is screwed.

This should be fixed in the lastest beta (beta 3). Are you completely sure you are on the latest release?.

It was broken on the 3rd gen 4K but 17.2 Beta 3 fixed it. I don’t have the beta on the 2nd gen 4K though, I don’t run betas on that one. The 1st gen 4K is also working correctly with 17.2 beta 3.

    that’s normal.
AppleTV decodes and send dolby digital+ audio as multichannel PCM (received by your AVR as multi-in).

dolby surround is your AVR upmixer. when it receives non-surround formats (I.e stereo). you can enable/disable this on you AVR

I am a home theater enthusiast and I finally just got a zidoo to play my local ripped media. Tired of Apple breaking basic functionality in every update
