There are 4K to 1080P down scaling devices this way the Apple TV will get the 4K stream from Netflix and send 4K to the down scaling device.

I don’t have a recommendation for one but there are a bunch on Amazon that should be an easy return if they don’t work.

As u/SBYMB said use the feature to learn the volume control. It’s located under Home Theater Control do not use the Learn Remote under Other Devices.

Yes you can do that. I have a HDFurry Arcana that was made for that the down side is it’s expensive. There are cheaper devices now that reportedly work just as well but lack some of the features the Arcana has.

If you go with a soundbar that only has one HDMI input (ARC/eARC) then the Arcana or the $99 U9 View HD or one of it’s clones will work.

If you get a sound bar that has inputs in addition to the ARC/eARC port then the $50 OREI or similar will work.

If you use Airplay you get stereo audio, HDMI is better for audio with movies.

You can’t use the Apple TV Channel in the TV app if you subscribed directly with Paramount+. You have to use the paramount+ app.

If you subscribe to the Paramount+ Apple TV Channel you can use both.

It’s because the metadata is stored in the apps cache and Apple will purge the cache when other apps need the space. With the 32 GB this will occur more often especially if you have the screen savers set to down load frequently.

I have a few 32 GB Apple TV’s and setting the screen savers to never reduces the frequency of the metadata being cleared. I also use Tiny Media Manager to scrape my files and create NFOs to speed up the process if the cache gets cleared.

If you have an Apple TV 4K Netflix sends an incredibly low bitrate stream for 4K content when you have a 1080p screen.

Netflix uses their own compression algorithm for their videos and it looks like it’s just too aggressive for H265 1080p content. My TV is decent at up scaling 1080P to 4K so it does not look to bad but I could see where a 1080P projector will have problems.

Are you connected by ARC or eARC?

I’m still using 3 of the 2017 4Ks, one 2021 one 2022 and the 2015 HD.

To add on what was already said, there is a Crunchyroll app.

I have one still in use and it’s ok, I would not buy one at this point in time though. A used 2017 4K model would be a better choice if you are looking on the used market.

Why not just put the Apple TV on one of the X90Ks HDMI 2.0 ports? The Apple TV does not take advantage of any HDMI 2.1 features with you TV so you are not missing out on anything. The only issue you might have is audio sync issues that happens with some Sony sets using ARC/eARC.

The problem with 4K digital is the bitrate varies from title to title and from service to service. The audio is better on the disk if you have an audio system that can take advantage of it.

Movies Anywhere tends to be the best service to stream 4K followed by Apple they tend to be above 20 Mbps on their 4K movie streams.

I tend to buy the disk and redeem the digital code, I use the digital version when I’m not in one of my main viewing setups.

I have one installed for a year now with no problems. I was using a Nest Hello with HomeBridge that worked great but the Nest died. I did get four years out of the Nest though I would have purchased another but Google dropped the version I was using and the newer models are not the same.

The Apple TV app is just for streaming shows it does not have any of the functionality of an actual Apple TV device. The shows stream at a lower bitrate when using the Apple TV app on non Apple devices.

You space problem is due to cache being full. Reset it and turn off downloading for the screen savers. The cache should clear it self but sometimes it does not.

Dolby Digital 5.1 works over ARC. Since you only have a 5.1 AVR that does not support Atmos using Dolby Digital 5.1 over ARC is fine.

I have both and prefer the Apple TV but I can see where other prefer using a Roku. Hardware wise the Apple TV is vastly superior to the Roku Ultra. The Apple TV has faster SOC, more ram, more storage, better WiFi and better Ethernet. If you are not doing anything that takes advantage of the better hardware then you won’t notice a difference.

What TV and soundbar do you have? The Apple TV does not support Atmos over an ARC connection so if you have a TV with ARC and a soundbar with one HDMI you may not get Atmos.
