For me, I think it might have been over ten years. Not sure tho, might have climbed one in the meantime. But either way, it was too long.

Successfully? I was 13. Attempted? I was 45, got as far as hanging from the lowest branch
Last autumn I put up a bird box opposite our bedroom window. For the want of a ladder I had to climb the birch tree. I enjoyed it at the time but in retrospect I wish I hadden’t gone up in shorts and t-shirt. Birch bark is basically human grade sandpaper so I looked like I had humped a porcupine afterwards.
I don’t remember ever climbing a tree. I lacked the skill when I was young, and now I lack the strength (and time).
