Couldn’t even throw for 200 yards.

I wonder how many 300+ yard games they each had in their first three years or game winning drives

Wonder how many 100 yard games they had rushing. Or how many times they had top weapons in football. Funny what even mahomes looks like with zero weapons but for kelce. Still great but certainly not 50 td 5000 yard mahomes

In his first season as a starter, Mahomes had 10 games of 300+ yards, including a streak of 8 straight games.

Fields has 1 career game of 300+ yards.

Mahomes is truly a generational player though so I never like the comparison. I don’t compare every QB to Tom Brady. Granted, I imagine most elite QBs have had more 300+ yard games in their first 3 years.

Yeah thank you. Hurts and Mahomes floor is Fields’ ceiling and we’re acting like those things are comparable.

You need pass attempts to get 300 yard games. I’ve been pounding the table about this. Fields only has three career games with 35+ pass attempts while there are 12 teams averaging more than that this year. If you look at that stat line for Mahomes, he had 43 pass attempts? Of course he’s going to have a history of volume passing yards, they throw the ball more. A lot more.

Some of this is on Fields. He has historically been a tick slow making decisions and takes sacks that could be pass attempts. But some of this is on the play calling which is consistently conservative. If you add back the sacks and scrambles, we still don’t pass enough for Fields to prove he can put up numbers like that. If his completion percentage was in the toilet, that would be one thing. But that is fine.

Fields may not be capable of putting up many 300 yard games. The trouble is, we will never know if we decide to make Khalil Herbert the star of the offense.
