It’s crazy. Some of Mahomes craziest throws ever have been dropped by receivers. If he doesn’t throw it perfectly, you have those armchair analysts saying ‘well he could have thrown a better ball’ to justify the receiver dropping it. However, when he does lead his receiver perfectly, they still drop the damn ball lmao. I legit feel like that int he had was because he feels like he has to put the ball right in his receiver’s chest or they will drop it. Sure he should have led Watson more, but it feels like over 50% of the throws he tries to lead his receivers with this year are either dropped or his receivers are not on the same page at all. Like the last drive. He leads Kelce on a throw and Kelce dropped it. His next two throws to Kelce, he just launched it right into his chest. The Chiefs’ receivers this year are allergic to reaching out and grabbing the ball. They all want to catch with their body. Basically all of their ‘catch radius’ is freaking shoulder to shoulder. Topple that with the abysmal separation rates, and you have a recipe for an ATROCIOUS receiving core.
