Tried a technique given to me by @chonglibloodsport@lemmy.world. It turned out way better, so thank you! Still haven’t tried latte art yet but the texture is very nice. Excellent mouth feel.

Also an excuse to show off another mug, this time one of my wife’s, as well as my cat stir spoon. I love these spoons, I’ve got maybe 6 different colours. They’re great.

It is rewarding, even the ugly ones haha

When I was in junior high, I did have one piece get blown up in the kiln one time, which sucked, as it was supposed to have been a gift.
Someone didn’t get all the bubbles out of their clay before forming their piece, and the bubble basically created a mini bomb.
My piece wasn’t the only one to get ruined. One girl (9 or 10, I think) had her competition piece in there. I was in the room when she was told. She tried so hard to keep those tears back. My heart still aches for her when I think of it. I’m sure she’s fine by now, but still.

I can’t imagine being the person who accidentally ruined everyone else’s hard work. I would’ve felt absolutely terrible. Especially a 9 year old’s competition piece.

The studio manager never did tell me whose piece blew up (I guess it doesn’t really matter), but I’d imagine they were devastated for the damage they caused. I know I would have been.

I suppose that’s probably for the best. Probably didn’t want to say “hey look at this person who ruined all your hard work” I doubt that would end well.

100%. I just had a hunch it was the boy who kept saying he could do it, but “never will”. Lol but I guess it’ll always just be a hunch.
