we have a top cb1 allegedly a top slot and yet the 3rd worst pass defense in the league.

We’ve played Joran Love, Baker Mayfield, Mahomes, Russ, Sam Howell, Kirk, Hoyer coached by McDaniels, Herbert, Carr, and Bryce.

Kyler missed Baker, Mahomes, Russ, and Howell. Kirk was 3-3 targeting him. Hoyer was 4-5 targeting him. Herbert was 4-4 targeting him. Carr was 4-5 targeting him. His lone good game was against bryce.

So what do you think is more likely, kyler is actually sneaky good but we still have one of the worst pass defenses in the league or him missing 4 games has his stats looking better by the unknown metric in a tweet that you can’t go verify.

Jaylon, an actual good corner for reference.

      Love: 1-4

      Baker: 3-4

      Mahomes: 1-4

      Kirk 3-5

      Hoyer: 2-6

      Herbet: 1-3

The secondary has had to do a lot extra because our pressures have been historically bad before the last few games, last year included.

How is it that Jaylon is having an outstanding season and Kyler is the 5th best slot CB when he’s played yet the Bears have the 3rd worst passer rating against at 99.7? I know the pass rush has been bad and Tyrique has had his rookie struggles but still doesn’t add up when QBs have been carving up the defense

Did not see it mentioned yet, but linebackers. Currently TJ Edwards has a career worst 117.7 passer rating against, allowing a 90% completion rate. 45/50 of his targets have been completed. There is your reason.

The stats they use weigh in all aspects including pass rush, at least in the top 10 stat they showed, he had the 3rd worst coverage score; it’s mainly his pass rushing stats that they calculate that bring him up in the rankings. Him and Tyrique have a 70ish% completion percentage when targeted, so not great

He’s currently one of the worst rated coverage CBs in the league… oh he had one good game of coming up to stop the run against the Panthers and that makes him a top 10 slot corner? Lmfao goes to show what a joke this made up stats and rankings are as they always have been.

Branch is leaps and bounds better (from what I have seen) and they were drafted at roughly the same draft position. Middle 2nd round, he’s a rookie however.
