Then you’ll have a proper Apple warranty and options for AppleCare (just get it for a few dollars a month, it can save you hundreds if you bust it, or even a failure under warranty past the standard 1 year).
If you do want refurbished, spend the bit extra and get an Apple refurbished. It will be in like new condition, brand new battery, and Apple warranty for 90 days and AppleCare eligibility.
If you can’t find a good buy on a 7 (you might even score an S8 at an excellent price with the Black Friday sales) and your budget is really constrained, a new SE 2 is a perfectly reasonable selection. But you have options for a significant step up at about the same price as a new SE by going with an S7/8 with sales going on as they are in the US.
