I’ve been pretty neutral about the changes on watchOS 10. I understood that people don’t like changes -

but it’s been 2 months now and I still try to bring up the control center the old way, I still try to access my most recently used apps the old way and I’m still annoyed by having submenus everywhere where watchOS 9 was straightforward with everything. watchOS 10 is the most unintuitive Apple experience I ever had.

Old top menu bar, one line leaving space for the actual content

New top menu bar with huge buttons at the top, pushing down the actual content

Probably the worst part on my 40mm SE is that the colorful backgrounds made all app icons on watch faces smaller (there has recently been a post about this) and I keep missing icons when clicking them. I sometimes need to click an icon 4 times until it registers, along with the colorful backgrounds and unnecessarily huge flashy other buttons this feels like a $50 knockoff Watch to me now.

Also what did they think when changing the menu bar at the top? It used to be one small line (picture 1) but now on my 40mm Watch about 1 fourth of the screen is covered by each app’s title or clock (picture 2). I know what app I’m in, I don’t need half the screen (exaggerating yes) covered to be reminded of the app I’m using.

watchOS 10 must’ve been designed by someone who doesn’t really use their Apple Watch much I assume. I’m not blaming them, everyone can make mistakes when the goal was progress but it’s not like a mistake has to be set in stone. Just roll it back or give us a choice between design and functionality - I personally prefer functionality, it’s not like watchOS 9 was so ugly that it needed a re-design to begin with.

I feel your pain and I’m in the pain, too. In the old design, one can zoom in the app grids, but not WatchOS 10. But even without zooming in, the old app icons are bigger (yes only small changes, but noticeable), so I could click on the app I want. Every time. Not on the WatchOS 10! To start training, I have to at least click twice, yes every time! The weird thing is other app like the watch is not affected, but many are. At my age, working on the watch is hard enough without my glasses, but with WatchOS 10, it becomes a burden. Apple’s product should just work. That’s the compelling design philosophy of Steve Jobs! But not any more. I hate the feeling of having to fumble about. And I can not understand why the apps need second to start and response.

I don’t see any benefit of the new design, only trouble and annoyance. I cannot think of any other reason than it’s the Apple way to force its customers to buy new a watch :( I just wish I can roll back!

I’ve had absolutely no issues with getting used to the button functionality changes. If it’s taking you over two months to adjust, then it’s definitely an issYOU and nothing to do with Apple.

watchOS 10 must’ve been designed by someone who doesn’t really use their Apple Watch much I assume.

You know what they say about assuming.

Yeah when something worked for almost 10 years, and Apple changes it, it’s definitely me who’s suddenly at fault. Wow what a childish mindset that is.

What bothers me is when it’s in a app it doesn’t go back to Home Screen automatically

    And my battery sucks now

I forget the stacks are there most of the time, which negates most of the changes they made. The new look of the stock apps is fine with me though.

For what are you using the stocks app tho? I’m into stocks and I always found the stocks experience to be worse than literally any third party stocks app. Can you have a watchlist with your purchase price yet? Or a widget on the iPhone that shows more than like 5 entries (because Apple prefers form over function which makes it an unreasonable choice for most investors?)

    I’m not. At all.

The changes they made had absolutely no point and fixed problems that didn’t need solving.

    It’s actively bad.

I designed my watch faces so that I could quickly switch between them when I need to. Now I have to stop, hold, switch and tap. IT SUCKS. I used to be able to manage things while biking, cooking, holding kids. No more. I royally hate it and it means I’m not using it, and it’s ruining my routines.

There’s not one thing that I like about this upgrade. The watch was perfectly fine and worked well. Now it’s a dud. I won’t be getting a new one and think they really provided a leg up for the competition with this.

I think it’s clearly just all in an effort to push consumers towards their newer, larger screened Apple watches.

I haven’t had any issues with the new UI on my AWU but I can completely see how it would have made the experience worse for smaller devices

Honestly that would be a valid point if they didn’t sell small Watches anymore. Decommissioning the experience of a product you are still selling is a really bad move.

I thought the OS increase my usage of the watch other than just tracking but it is so cumbersome to use. When the redundancy of bringing up Smart Stack by moving the crown and/or swipe up? Please return to the old swipe up for control centre

I hope we get an option where we can select the legacy controls along with this new controls. There should be 2 options.

OS10 has been such a noticeable downgrade in how I use my watch, other updates made improvements that I didn’t notice and that was great.

    Problems I’ve had:

    • rubbish battery life
    • button pressing for control centre is annoying
    • the swipe-up feature that replaced CC adds nothing of value
    • the workout app: adding a new workout to chain multiple together just isn’t as smooth as it was previously
    • when you’re given the list of workouts, it doesn’t start all the way at the top which is jarring
    • when clicking a workout, clearly where I top on the icon open up the “open” or “set goal” section which never happened before
    • workouts randomly pause and therefore, don’t track for my friends

I’m never using card, they are too small and totally useless.

Not to mention that there is no such thing as “dynamic behaviour”, they are always in the same order no matter what I do.

ABSOLUTELY, I used to have mapped favourite apps with the big button which is no a blood useless control centre, LOVED the double click crown feature to come back to previous app-GONE. HATE the widgets, they are so laggy or not showing properly they open randomly when I’m in the shower with my watch. To be complete honest since ios10 I’m no longer using my watch as I was before, yes I still wear it but no longer check the weather as it’s so messed up(literally cannot read it and the multiple scroll it takes), I no longer close my rings and don’t care about the stats AT ALL, since to see them I need to scroll through massive windows on the activity app I hate hate hate this whole thing I WISH I could downgrade or at least stayed on the old system :( Not to mention the whole watch is slow and laggy, widgets are not loading and the battery life is trash, I cannot make it through the day when I use it as sleep tracker and alarm in the morning by around 4/5 o clock I have 20% ……
