So I’ve always used cases but this time around it feels so nice in the hand, the volume and action buttons feel so stiff with the apple cases so I bought AppleCare and took the case off.

Does anyone have any suggestions for reducing cosmetic damage?

I might want to resell down the line so that’s my only concern as AppleCare doesn’t cover it.

I use a camera protector, screen protector, and keep my MagSafe wallet on the back. I’ve thought about a skin.

Try out no case with a MagSafe pop socket and screen protector. I still use MagSafe chargers and mounts daily, but when not on the charger or car mount, I put on the MagSafe pop socket. Handling 15 PM is way more secure even with 1 hand use and also doubles as kickstand for video watching too.

AppleCare express replacements give you an entirely new phone and “cover” anything if you get creative with a hammer.

Use it freely. When the time comes to sell it, give it a good drop and get it swapped for a new one. The deductible will be less than the increase in resale value for a brand new one.

I have a black one. I’ve dropped a few times on concrete and it does scratch the edges pretty noticeably. I’ve used an Emory board which surprisingly did a great job making the edges smooth again. Unfortunately it strips the coloring. I’ve tried black sharpie which doesn’t stay on. But I really don’t notice the faded edge colors and it feels smooth in my hands. Anyone have a suggestion of how to apply color to titanium please hit me up. I use an Anker MagSafe ring too for added grip.

Good idea, AppleCare is a must for you. I bought the IPhone 14 in March on line. It was so slippery when I first saw it, just slides off my lap or table. That glass looks too easy to break. The Apple leather case was attractive but didn’t look protective. I got a good foam silicone case the doesn’t slide. As it is rarely out of the house, it is plugged in all the time. It won’t fit in my jeans pocket so I carry it in my zippered hip bag when out. There are no fingerprints on the textured case.

So, I feel the same way about my 15 PM. I returned the Apple clear case because it was more slippery than just the naked phone, I feel like I’m less likely to drop it without that case on. What I did was buy a cheap case and I have the dBrand Ghost case on order. What I would recommend is use a case in a strategic way, meaning think about what your day will look like and then decide whether to use a case for that day, half day, or hour. In my current job my phone is usually either in my pocket, on a table or desk, or plugged into my car. I don’t really need added protection for my normal activities. But if I’m going to a rock concert, or a sports event, or hiking, something where my phone will be out and in the air a lot taking pictures, then I’ll case up as there’s a greater chance of a drop.

Going no case is fine and even if it scratches it won’t be noticeable just get a screen protector I remembered Jerry rig everything video with scratches at level 6 and a knife blade wouldn’t scratch it so I thought nothing in my pocket would be sharper than a knife… not how it works. Hella scratches within a month

I prefer a thin case because many scratches over time would bother me. Or a small cosmetic dent from a drop.

I don’t do big bulky protective cases anymore though. I used to do OtterBox defender cases and the like. I have Apple care for now incase of a major accident with the phone.

So, you’re a klutz who is prone to dropping your phone, and might want to sell your device later on, and still you’re asking to go caseless? A case isn’t just to protect against drops, but it’s also helpful for grip as well. If you care at all about your device and actually plan on selling it, just use a case. If you didn’t plan on selling it eventually, I don’t see the problem but if that’s your goal then your best interest is a case. Even if it’s just a thin one.
