How, on Earth, do you people think that a better GM than Ryan Poles is going to take this job if we fire him?

The problems on this team have been around for generations. Decades. Lifetimes. And you want to give him two seasons to fix every single one of those issues? And because he hasn’t yet, we should fire him and assume a better GM is gonna swoop in and save the day? How long are you gonna give that mythical guy?

The man tanks a season to get draft picks and deals away players who either had underperformed (Mack, Quinn), or total head cases who were a pain in the ass to deal with and didn’t fit the system or culture he wants to build (Roquan).

Jaylon Johnson gets two picks against doo-doo-ass Brian Hoyer, and you guys act like he’s Deion Sanders. He’s good, but not “reset the CB market” good. Poles stands firm, and JJ didn’t get nearly the offers he thinks he deserves. Huh. Imagine that.

He’s brought in promising young players. He even re-signed everyone’s favorite dumbass TE (a move I personally regard as a mistake but I’m clearly in the minority there). He’s managed the cap perfectly for the future, beyond this rebuild season. He’s amassed draft picks most GMs wouldn’t even dream of having at their disposal.

He even fixed the trash-ass Soldier Field turf, ffs. He deserves another year for that alone.

You really think someone better is going to take this job? Really? Shit, Ian Cunningham isn’t even in our league, and he’s the assistant GM.

Bears fans don’t deserve Poles.

I think it’s important to remember that it definitely seems Poles was sort of cornered into hiring Eberflus. I’m pretty sure they had already narrowed the search down to 3 candidates and were in the middle of multiple rounds of interviews by the time Poles came on board. I don’t really attribute the hiring of Eberflus to Poles. So I think you bring up some good points I agree with about Poles. The question is, taking that information into consideration, do you trust Poles to be involved the next head coaching hiring decision? I think for me it’s yes.

So I’ve always been saying we need new coaches including coordinators and even down to the weight room coaches. Keep anyone worth keeping along the way. The next questions to address are do you want to keep Justin with a new coaching overhaul and what do you do with your potential very high pick(s)? You could trade back again for more picks and just sort of keep it rollin or you can go up and get your next qb depending on your answer to the Justin question.

It eventually becomes circular thought but I have enjoyed reading the various takes throughout the day.
