How, on Earth, do you people think that a better GM than Ryan Poles is going to take this job if we fire him?

The problems on this team have been around for generations. Decades. Lifetimes. And you want to give him two seasons to fix every single one of those issues? And because he hasn’t yet, we should fire him and assume a better GM is gonna swoop in and save the day? How long are you gonna give that mythical guy?

The man tanks a season to get draft picks and deals away players who either had underperformed (Mack, Quinn), or total head cases who were a pain in the ass to deal with and didn’t fit the system or culture he wants to build (Roquan).

Jaylon Johnson gets two picks against doo-doo-ass Brian Hoyer, and you guys act like he’s Deion Sanders. He’s good, but not “reset the CB market” good. Poles stands firm, and JJ didn’t get nearly the offers he thinks he deserves. Huh. Imagine that.

He’s brought in promising young players. He even re-signed everyone’s favorite dumbass TE (a move I personally regard as a mistake but I’m clearly in the minority there). He’s managed the cap perfectly for the future, beyond this rebuild season. He’s amassed draft picks most GMs wouldn’t even dream of having at their disposal.

He even fixed the trash-ass Soldier Field turf, ffs. He deserves another year for that alone.

You really think someone better is going to take this job? Really? Shit, Ian Cunningham isn’t even in our league, and he’s the assistant GM.

Bears fans don’t deserve Poles.

Steady on…this is the same guy that thought using a 3rd rnd pick on an 82 year old special teamer who can’t catch was a good idea!

Kevin Warren performs several interviews on FO assistant GMs/Directors of Scouting, etc. that he knows around the league.

Warren offers a promotion and one of the only 32 GM jobs in the league to the candidate he thinks is best.

    The candidate accepts.

Ryan Poles has made us the worst team in the league and the worst in Bears history during his tenure and the only teams we have beaten are bad ones with backup QBs.

I will not understand why some Bears fans will defend this man like he has accomplished a single damn thing

This entire fanbase is knee jerk. I think Poles is doing alright. We have a ton of money to play with, we have a ton of draft picks coming at us, and nobody should have thought that this was our year.

Really I blame sports radio. They get people all whipped up in a fervor week after week, and people expect immediate results. None of those guys are talking about how this was never our year. They are all on the warpath to create ratings, and they do it by talking trash.

I’m not sure who you listen to, personally an AM 1000 guy and the morning show, “Kap and J Hood” were getting hate for saying the team was 7 wins MAX so at least the audience for that show is coming up with the fervor and optimism from elsewhere

I think it’s important to remember that it definitely seems Poles was sort of cornered into hiring Eberflus. I’m pretty sure they had already narrowed the search down to 3 candidates and were in the middle of multiple rounds of interviews by the time Poles came on board. I don’t really attribute the hiring of Eberflus to Poles. So I think you bring up some good points I agree with about Poles. The question is, taking that information into consideration, do you trust Poles to be involved the next head coaching hiring decision? I think for me it’s yes.

So I’ve always been saying we need new coaches including coordinators and even down to the weight room coaches. Keep anyone worth keeping along the way. The next questions to address are do you want to keep Justin with a new coaching overhaul and what do you do with your potential very high pick(s)? You could trade back again for more picks and just sort of keep it rollin or you can go up and get your next qb depending on your answer to the Justin question.

It eventually becomes circular thought but I have enjoyed reading the various takes throughout the day.

I have boiled this down to the two types of fans we have here.

We have the fans that are pumped they have fire because lightning struck, or mad they don’t have it because it was a clear night…never thinking how fire starts. Just they have fire now, or don’t and react.

Then you have the fans here who try to understand the steps to making a fire, and understand that there can be logic and reason behind each action and that rubbing a few sticks together take time if you don’t have gasoline (QB) or a match (good coach).

It really is unfortunate because it turns this sub reddit into a breeding ground of extremes that makes it unbearable to both groups of fans. Very toxic.

I’d like to complain about people who hold things up by complaining about people complaining. It’s about time something was done about it.
