How do you folks do it??

The notifications are hidden (no icons on top near the clock) inside the notifications tray. And then, the notifications from locked screen also disappear when I unlock the phone.

If I leave a message unanswered to check later, I completely forget it’s there, hidden in the notifications panel.

I’m not used to go after notifications, they usually are there waiting for me on android. And I know that by check the icons near the clock. Do you all have the habit of checking the notifications panel? How do you do it?

I’m starting to get the hang of iOS I think- I didn’t have any idea what the difference was in banners, badges, and notification center. I don’t fully understand it yet but I think the notification center is when I pull my screen down while the phone is unlocked? I think I’ve been confusing that for my lockscreen.

Switched from Android four years and honestly I haven’t and never will get used to it. Usually if I miss a notification it’s gone until I accidentally bring up the Notification Center hours later. What’s especially annoying is the Apple Watch gets a red dot to show unread notifications, while the phone that you’re more likely to check has literally nothing like that besides the Home Screen badges.

Ngl the keyboard is low-key insufferable. Seems like I’m flipping back and forth between letters and special keyboard way too much. Wondering if there’s an app for that

That’s interesting. I made the switch from iPhone to Android a while back and I hated the way Android did notifications (why the fuck is my timer notification randomly placed near the bottom???). Yeah it was nice to have messages at the top but the rest of them were so out of order and randomly placed it frustrated me trying to find a notification for a specific app. Imo having them in chronological order is way better

When I lift my phone, I see them in the lock screen. That’s all I need, because when something happens the icon of the app has the red dot. With email I do not care, because I get many, so I just check every few hours. If I am not sure about something, I pull down the notification center. But I am aware that doesn’t work for everyone. My job, life, and old age allow me to march to the beat of my own drummer.

I believe the way iOS handles notifications is philosophically different from Android, and even though I think it is also functionally lacking, I don’t believe it is something that can be made to work as in Android.

My advice is to learn to live with it or switch back. I’m okay with it now but it’s not for everyone.

Ironically, after switching from android I’m missing less notifications. Having the small icons on top let me know that I had a WhatsApp message. But since I am in so many groups, my brain just assume it’s from the group and ignores it.

On iPhone, the notifications showing up on the lock screen lets me know if I received a message from a direct message or from a group and I check it out. Also, not having the small icons on top makes go for the notification bar more often.

Went from Android to an iPhone 13 two years ago. I’ll probably stick with apple from now on, but holy hell do I miss the notifications on my Pixel. That along with smart lock and Android Auto are the things I really miss.
