Stop using all of these silicon valley parasites’ gig economy companies they hold the gates to, without any meaningful regulation to even keep them in check.

In europe I’ve never lived more than a 15 minute walk from a taco/pizza/burger place. That includes right now and my neighbors on two sides are farmers. I can’t imagine an apartment building that is not close to some kind of food-selling place.

Can you all afford to eat out still? It’s gotten exponentially more expensive here in the US since 30 years back.

Also, tacos? How cosmopolitan. In living memory such fare would’ve been unheard of, both there and there. The BBC once ran a joke piece showing Italians harvesting pasta off the pasta tree and most people accepted it until they told them. Back in the 50s tacos were unheard of in the north at least.

It has definitely gotten more expensive in the last 20 years. Döner used to be 3-4€, now it’s 7-10. Maybe more in some places. Afaik that’s a little above inflation, but it’s not crazy. And eating out in general has always been an expensive thing to do. From what I see online US prices are a lot worse, but I don’t know how they were 20 years ago.

You used to be able to eat lunch for 5 bucks, it’s like 20 now, 10 if you are lucky. Especially for someone that has high caloric needs.

There is definitely a better way. Its the way we did it before Covid killed it. Its called “The restaurant has its own delivery drivers.” Granted there were fewer overall delivery options, but l could order delivery over the phone at all of them, which I prefer over stupid apps.

I try to do this, but since Covid, most places I order delivery from just give me a DoorDash driver anyways in a janky pop up window so I can’t track the order properly and the driver can’t contact me directly if there’s a problem
