My reaction is the NFL analysts are almost always wrong on quarterback prospects
A month ago Caleb Williams was the best prospect in the last 20 years. Now he looks straight up average.
This team is bad really really bad. It fields loses again next year will be in the same position as we are now trying to draft a quarterback.
My take is right out the rookie contract don’t make a decision until you have to.
Why start yet another quarterback rebuild next year for guys who have a 95% chance to fail on this team also.
Use the first round picks to draft top-tier talent you know will be here long-term and be successful like a wide receiver and an d end.
Let’s build the team to where they’re pretty good and stacked with young talent before we start playing the roulette game that is quarterbacks out of college.
You’re wrong. The first QB taken in each NFL draft has a pretty good track record. Not perfect, but they turn out good more often than they turn out bad.
The Bears haven’t even tried to draft QBs. They’ve only picked a QB 4 times in the first round in the last 35 years:
McNown, Grossman, Trubisky, Fields
The reason we’ve never gotten a good QB is because we haven’t taken enough swings. I also think Fields is the only guy on that list that wasn’t somewhat of a reach (For those of you too young for McNown - holy shit was he bad… by far the worst of these guys)
This team isn’t that bad - the problem is we don’t have a QB. The Chargers are not a very good team - the difference is that Herbert is a very good QB.
Switch Herbert to the Bears and give the Chargers Fields/Bagent and we win that game last night.
