This shit is going to make us zombie rage monsters or something. It can’t be this helpful without consequence.
The medication has been around for 20 years, the negative effects are well documented and the benefits seem to outweigh them. Not everything has to be miserable in the world.
It’s too early to have much data, but there is some evidence that GLP-1 blockers are exacerbating eating disorders like anorexia:
Which makes sense - the drugs make you feel like you don’t need to eat, so you don’t eat. If you were already not eating enough, it amplifies that.
I would never use it. But if it makes all the overweight angry Lemmy posters feel better about themsevles and less nihilistic, then I am all for it. Because Lemmy is becoming a cesspool of toxicity, extremism, and anger lately.
I’ve worked out and ate well all my life, so it’s not needed for me. I go to my yoga class every morning, so unhealthy lifestyle people just aren’t around in my circle. I also live in a healthy city. But I’m definitely sus about GLP-1’s exploding in popularity all of a sudden.
I hope it works out fine for everyone, but it sure doesn’t seem to have much long-term testing to make me feel comfortable.
Way to make it weird.
Nah, just stating facts.
But they can poo poo on other users, lifestyle humble brag and make up theories about science. 20 day old account too.
You think me saying I workout every day is a humble brag? That’s a humble brag now?! Seriously?! Is everyone so out of shape that saying ya work out every day is a humble brag?! Say what, mate?
Working out every day isn’t a humble brag. It should be a way of life. Working on being and staying healthy isn’t a fucking humble brag. My yoga class is at Planet Fitness. Planet Fitness costs $14 a month. What is humble brag about that?
What did I make up about science? Please tell me where I made anything up. I said I don’t think there has been long term testing so I wouldn’t mess with it. That’s my personal opinion. I didn’t make up anything. Another post in this thread gave this information: “It’s too early to have much data, but there is some evidence that GLP-1 blockers are exacerbating eating disorders like anorexia: https://shmabstracts.org/abstract/glp-1-induced-anorexia-what-to-do-when-the-medicine-works-too-well/” Are they making that up? Are you accussing them of making up theories about science?
Do you think there has been long enough testing? If so, go for it. Get the fat shot/pill. I wouldn’t, but you are free to.
And how old should accounts be before they can post opinions? You realize that everyone has start out with a new account, right? Your account is 9 months old. So not even a year. So should I not take your opinion seriously since it’s not a year old yet? What’s the time frame?
