So today I’m taking out my fidget toy to work (neatly hidden away in my pocket) and so far I do have to say it helps. Every now and then I click the buttons and it shuts my mind up for a few seconds during which I can refocus.

It’s strangely soothing. It also does give me a headache when I do it too much.

What are your findings?

This specific GAN356 M speed cube. Don’t buy a Rubik’s cube. The GAN cube is way more satisfying to turn. They are so incredibly satisfying I’ve bought like 4 of them after losing them/giving them to friends.

I’ve got a fidget cube and spinner, but my lifelong tradition of finding and fidgeting with blue tac has never gone away

Somehow not really, it’s probably since I wash my hands pretty regularly and don’t really sweat on my fingertips since I’ve been doing it for so long lmao. Although I do replace the blue tac whenever it does eventually get dirty from other things, which is probably like once every 2 years or so.

It was probably hidden by someone who isn’t a fan of the fact that these thing’s buttons make clicky noises.

I do wish the one side with three clicky buttons and two silent buttons made them feel different so you could avoid the clicky ones when needed without testing them.

I honestly don’t have a dedicated fidget toy. I have a leather phone case with a magnetic strap and I use that. It’s pretty satisfying to flick the little strap open and shut and listen to the little noise of the magnet snapping it into place.

Not a fan of that thing, I need something with more texture or a different / interesting shape I can move around in my hand.

My old car used to have a switchblade key (Mazda 2) and that was the best fidget when I was out and about.

Right now on my desk I have a 7mm or so, heavy allen wrench that provides plenty of mindless, quiet, fidgeting. My only wish is that it would stay colder longer.
