When I was 16 I bought that MacBook and I put a bunch of random stickers on it. I took them off today and they left this residue… how can I get it off without damaging the finish?

hah that’s why i never put stickers on my Macs… Why did you even do it (^^) It had to look like a cheap piece of trash with those APPLE logos and GoPro :D
Anyway… good luck :DTry alcohol high proof. If thats not enough use acetone.

I use hand sanitizer. Drop a bunch on the top, let it loosen the residue, then wipe it off with a paper towel

Rule Nb 1: NEVER EVER use stickers on a computer
Any adhesive remover should at least partially do the trick but even if the residue is gone it will most likely leave discolorations in the shape of the stickers.
