European organizations are about to launch their own social media platform, W, amid rising tensions with the United States.

Just to clarify that this was posted as informational. I don’t consider that a private social network will be the answer to “protect” the world of another private social network. And consider that there’s already Mastodon, I don’t understand why are we supposed to need another platform.

    Worthless garbage. Dont even upvote this shit. Let it die in obscurity.

    W’s data will be hosted decentrally in Europe by European companies, and the platform will adhere to strict EU data protection laws.

    If it were actually decentral, they wouldnt be able to enforce verification. Best case its just gonna be corpo slop in the style of bluesky without public federation.
