You’ll become more conservative when you have more money. But that’s not a given or even so likely in your 30’s anymore.
I have more money than I’ve ever had, but I’ve only drifted further and further to the left.
Same here, actually. I think it’s more of an effect of poor people starting out thinking that the rich should share more, then when they suck it up and work their asses off and find themselves doing ok, they don’t think they should have to share with those that didn’t work hard. Personally, I’ve always loved my job, and through luck did quite well with stock options early on. So I think I missed that phase.
There’s definitely some truth in that, though I always had it down as “You become more conservative when you stop learning”.
For many people, this is the same as getting older - they leave school, they eventually let their passions dwindle, and they stop and say “I want it to stay exactly like it is now, and everything else is modern rubbish”
If you carry on learning about the world, loving, experiencing, following interests and passions, meeting new people, you’ll still get old, but not more conservative.
I think this is true, but not the only reason, at least not for me. It’s also the realization that the government has no business trying to regulate every aspect of life and is grossly inefficient at doing that. Which leads to wanting higher efficiency, which translates to less rules and smaller government.
That does not mean a government geared towards companies that would gut social welfare, although that is the common perception. I believe a government can be both efficient and good for the people.
Well… reverting back to paganism?
Wouldn’t that be peak conservatism, doing like the ancestors did?
It’s the ultimate retro chic!
