idk much about the people who made this: https://linktr.ee/earfeeder
It focuses on albums early- to mid-80s, which is why no Ministry, NIN, etc. This was an Insta post, where they say “We’ve omitted Industrial Rock and Industrial Metal albums from this starter guide as there will be a dedicated post covering these 2 genres.”
As like an introduction to the history of it yes, however, if they are not well acquainted with the genre, I personally would start with something further down the list, something a little easier to digest than TG.
Yeah, that’s a fair assessment. Skinny Puppy being a decent one. On the less ambient and more traditionally musical side. Collapsing new buildings being a bit more of a midpoint.
Where’s Ministry?
When the OC authors posted it they wrote a note that they were making a separate list for “Industrial Rock and Industrial Metal”. They really shoulda written that on the pic tho.
They also listed really early industrial, less palatable IMO.
Yeah, really it oughta be like:
- if you like NIN (arrow to early industrial musician)
- if you like Ministry (arrow to early industrial musician)
- if you like Front Line Assembly (arrow to early industrial musician)
and that would be the top row. I’d make it myself, but I don’t know the old stuff well enough.
I bet you will apreciate this DJ set
Yeah that’s really good. Are they doing that with gloves on? Someone needs to tell them about black surgical gloves. I can’t believe that was going down while I was just gaming and watching B-movies.
Speaking of DJs who wear masks and play their own music, kinda reminds me of this Boris Brejcha set – a couple years ago if I needed to get some work done this would usually make it happen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vqz8c4ZP3Wg
That place is a amazing looking and all those people. I’ve never seen a video of a performance during the day.
A couple years ago, those producers recorded a bunch of performances in interesting locations. Amelie Lens at Atomium is another favorite: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJkuTx1DQzg
Skinny puppy could be on the top too.
