SyntaxError: JSON.parse: unexpected character at line 1 column 1 of the JSON data

This is the error I’m getting in a red banner when trying to upload an avatar (512x512px, 39kb jpeg file). Was able to upload the same image to lemmy.world (which currently uses BE 0.17.4) without any errors.

        I can’t upload either right now - tried with a gif, a png and a jpeg files. Keep getting this for an error:

        SyntaxError: JSON.parse: unexpected character at line 1 column 1 of the JSON data

    Same here. Can’t upload an image to anything, posts, comments, nothing. Only on VLemmy. My other Lemmy and Kbin instances are fine.

    Edit: The error I received when trying to insert into the body of a comment or at the top link when making a post is:

    SyntaxError: JSON Parse error: Unexpected identifier “Request”
