Wondering what people (that are still active here) are enjoying most this Summer 2024 in the anime world!

Personally, I’ve easily burned through new episodes of Pseudo-Harem thanks to the main female lead’s charisma and range, as well as the slow burn of Days with my Step-Sister’s mature take on the ‘my parent married your parent and now we’re related!’ genre that’s fetishized in a lot of anime.

So, anime-watchers of lemmy.ml, what has your attention currently?

I unfortunately am not able to watch current shows as they air, but the latest one I saw was Kaiju No. 8 which I believe came out earlier this year. It was pretty good, and I hope they do season 2 soon.

even if its an unpopular opinion: slime season 3. It’s a transition season with a lot of meeting and not a lot of action but it’s ok because they are preparing for season 4 and the meetings are pleasant to watch.

Yeah what’s with that? It’s genuinely taken a back by the little details they put ( hair twirling didn’t remember who, Komari leg swing when she sit at the table ). I tried watching other series they did but not one have the same treatments ( or maybe I just don’t interested in the series)

I love slice of life / silly comedy with romance here and there. When I watch this it’s giving me Seitokai Yakuindomo vibe but with better animation and interaction. Good stuff.

I suppose Nokotan wins by default for me. Everything else I’ve watched feels like slow parts of things I’ve already read the manga for.

It’s fun, the songs are good, and I don’t have to work too hard to get the puns.

I should clarify… I myself do not get the puns, moreso they are quickly searchable, unlike things like puns about kanji or cultural references.

If you’re able to figure them out on your own, you’re well ahead of me! 😁

I think it technically counts as Spring, but Dead Dead Demons Dededede Destruction has me enraptured.

But if we’re talking about Summer alone, hands down, Dungeon People.

Enjoyed Darling in the Franxx last month, but the second season was a bit disappointing. Just now discovering Jujutsu Kaisen, and that’s a lot of fun!

As we are certified trash people, Shikanoko Nokonoko Koshitantan. It’s absolutely stupid but we love it.

We’ve been watching a lot of “comfort” shows this season. As others have mentioned, Slime S3 is like the comfort anime of board room meetings - lots of exposition, but it is moving things along and these characters have all been well established already so it’s like hanging out with friends.

Laid-back Camp S3 was decidedly light on “Camp” but really brought its “Laid-back” game.

Dead Dead Demon’s Dededede Destruction is a weird mix of Satoshi Kon, Mamoru Oshii, and slice-of-life that we’re totally into. It also reminds us a bit of last year’s amazing Heavenly Delusion (when is that getting another season!?)

Just started the most recent Demon Slayer arc, looks good so far, and the new Netflix season of Kimi ni Todoke, which is excellent even if we keep forgetting each episode is an hour long.
