    1. Because they would stop being “Conservatives”

    2. Because they would have to stop being Tories. Toryism having a very long ideological history here.

    It’s just not possible to make it work, the left wouldn’t believe it the centre right wouldn’t believe it, and the conservative movement in the UK would find it ridiculous. The furthest left that the tory party can get was David Cameron.

    The conservative movement would be torn apart by it and Reform UK would be guaranteed to take over with Farage as fascist leader.
