Google famously campaigned for Apple to "get the message" and use RCS, but now doesn't let rooted Android users use RCS.

    I don’t see why I should bother with RCS, when everybody and their dog are using whatsapp or signal anyway.

      I have not found that to be true of Americans. I want it to be true, but it isn’t.
