Just wait till you hit chapter 95, The Cassock. I took an AP English class more than 20 years ago that focused mainly on Moby Dick and that chapter still sticks out in my mind.

World War Z is fantastic as an audiobook. If you’re not familiar, it’s written as a set of interviews of people who lived through a zombie war. The author, Max Brooks, voices the narrator/journalist and actors like Alan Alda, Mark Hamill, Carl and Rob Reiner voice the various interviewees. Mark Hamill doing the Battle of Yonkers is a highlight.
I really like all three of those guys but for some reason the podcast doesn’t work for me. It feels forced or disingenuous or something I can’t quite put my finger on.
I’d like to see a game where you play as Zelda. I remember there being a question if she was the protagonist of BOTW in the first teaser because Link was wearing the hood up.
I know that the “woke” cries would be ridiculous, but I think it’d be neat to have her save Link for once.
Puffshrooms are your friend here.
Yep, just toss one at the ground in the center of them all. It has a pretty large radius and will one shot kill the group.
Finishing up Malazan Book of the Fallen by Steven Erikson. I’m on book 10, The Crippled God. It’s taken almost 2 years because I had a kid in the middle of it.
I can’t even begin to describe how dense and fantastic it is. I feel like it’s spoiled fantasy for me. I can’t imagine anyone else ever coming close. Going to take a break for a while and read something else before trying another series in that world.
The guy whose company planned an event at a plantation, complete with period costumes, and forgot that their remote IT guy was black.
There’s a series of pictures of an older white woman in an blue ball gown coming down these ornate stairs all smiles and then her seeing him and realizing her mistake.
Have you played the old LucasArts SCUMM adventure games? Full Throttle, Monkey Island, The Dig, and Grim Fandango are masterpieces.
This is exactly it. Beyond a couple very niche subs, I felt no desire to interact at all. It had turned into howling into the void of bots and memes. This feels like legitimate engagement with actual humans…or passable facsimiles.
I remember HATING Reddit after the great Digg migration. The information was presented in a different way and the discussions seemed to be the focus rather than the linked content. It took a while to get used to it and I’m feeling a bit of the same here. There are a ton of similarities that are already here, so it’s not as jarring and things are improving every day.
I feel like I’m interacting more here than I did on Reddit for a long time. By the time anything showed up on my feed over there, it was 1 day old, had 5000 comments, and had devolved into memes.
Before mounting your motherboard, double-check the number of screws/standoffs you need, then make sure all the standoffs match up with the holes in the motherboard.
I misaligned one once and shorted out a motherboard.
Shadow of the Colossus by Kow Otani Freedom Fighters by Jesper Kyd
Final Fantasy 7 came out when I was in high school and I was getting more into PCs at the time and only had enough money for one. By the time I got around to playing FF7 years later, the graphics were way outdated and it never clicked for me.
Same here. It was equal parts freeing and uncomfortable. Recommend https://redact.dev/ for anyone looking to do the same.
Good on you. I only got the molduga one. I had started combing the map for the remaining talus/hynox/Hudson signs but it started to feel like a job so I just finished the game. Maybe I’ll come back in a bit and finish the rest out little by little.
