politics @lemmy.world•Americans think Republicans are too obsessed with trans people
4·8 days agoconservatives are notorious for under reporting prejudice in surveys and also not responding to surveys
even if this article is right, Republicans still use anti-trans rhetoric and anti-trans policy to appeal to ignorant uneducated males of low socioeconomic status, and it works…
if you go far enough down on the totem pole of socioeconomic status and education, you find people who genuinely think that Democrats are trying to give all the money to the elites and don’t understand that proposals for trickle down economics mean they, the lower class people, are going to get fucked. Because so many of these low education and low intelligence people can only vote emotionally, because they actually can’t understand the economic issues, they get tricked by conservatives every time with emotional ploys about trans people and other bullshit…
Because if you’re some tractor driver who went to Bob Jones university and can’t understand things like monetary supply and federal interest rates and crowding out of private investment by government bonds and real prices and the problems of the CPI, you still may understand the myths of the Bible and that trans people “don’t seem quite right” and you may laugh at “trans-insanity” insults and other things enough to connect with super rich people out to fuck you as hard as your ignorant brain will allow. And so if you’re that type, you’re going to vote Republican and then 2 years later complain about how it’s unfair you’re losing the farm and tractor.
It’s not about how people rationally feel, this is about rhetorical mendacious trickery to confuse and dupe the stupid plus rage-bait wedge issues so that enough poor people vote with the rich so that both the lower and middle classes get fucked.

110·10 days agoPeople who use lemmy are a very particular subset, people who self-host another, and you are posting this, saying various things about the government in a long AI-generated post, then claiming you wrote it yourself. People don’t randomly lie. You’re being paid.

28·10 days agoYour post is CLEARLY written by AI. Your responses aren’t. So you’re being deceptive.
Your posting in a self-hosted community, preaching self-hosting to people who already do it. You could very well be trying to identify people who hold more unusual views about technology and harbor anti-governemnt sentiments. You think people here are stupid? You’re clearly a liar and probably working for someone. No one lies like that without an agenda.

To everyone other than OP: this may be someone trying to collect data on people on lemmy and what their views are on the government. This person is lying and being deceptive. Something is off.

210·10 days agoIt’s something someone could have generated on their own, but the diction and linguistic style is similar to AI.
“Before you roll your eyes about this getting political - stay with me, because” - linguistic style of AI
“Not by some rogue actor, but by a system functioning exactly as designed.” -linguistic style of AI
“This isn’t about being a prepper or going off-grid. This is about building infrastructure that operates on fundamentally different principles:” -linguistic style of AI
Your responses to people accusing you of being AI seem human. So who are you? What are you? Are you a government agent trying to do data collection on people? Why write the post with AI, basically trying to collect data on users here or get data about users, and then deny it’s AI when it clearly is?
Yes, people are being influenced by AI writing styles but NO ONE IS THIS INFLUENCED. You’re fucking lying. FUCK YOU.

politics @lemmy.world•Federal agents shoot couple in Portland less than 24 hours after ICE killing of Renee Good
44·11 days agocould be true, could be false. ICE has lost all credibility and blatantly makes shit up. Is this a time when they are being honest or is this more made up shit? who knows, but probably more bullshit
Poor Renee. :(
There is footage with his mask on. Is the footage without the mask on AI generated or not? I don’t know the answer and it’s a great question.

3·12 days agoThis is a great point. Specifically an increase in economic education required of students would be helpful, including helpful for things like understanding environmental science, because externalities and environmental science and regulation have overlap that most don’t understand.

7·12 days agolol! oh shit, thanks for reducing my ignorance slightly! lol, you got me. that’s terrible.
does git clone multiple things, not just github? fuck me, i have a lot to learn still…
Trump wants violent conflict to happen so he can suspend voting.
i agree with you that she seems nice
I propose the following:
-
various stakeholders create a think tank to propose the best way to criminally hold accountable these ICE agents once those in power become more decent
-
it is important to realize that younger people are more liberal and will eventually vote, making the planet better and less annoying, and also allowing for better politicians to be in office
-
once those who recognize the corruption of ICE are in power, laws must be changed so that appropriate trials and punishments can be handed out to these ice agents that committed evil acts during this period
-
constitutional amendments may be need to be ratified to allow a rare exception to ex-post-facto laws in instance of blatant government corruption and immoral conduct
-
once a legal system is put into place such that trials can occur, appropriate lawful responses should occur, with punishments that could include prison or or something more serious for ICE agents that engaged in extrajudicial killing and torture, should that be agreed to by law makers
-
sending anyone to CECOT should be deemed torture, and anyone involved directly or indirectly in sending anyone there should be lawfully tried.
-
we need to make clear that immigration policy and enforcement do not exculpate acts of evil, and that accepting the need for borders and immigration rules and enforcement and enforcement agents does not mean that an “anything goes” mentality won’t be later met with brutal consequences for those involved in evil.
These old racist ultra-right Republican types won’t be around forever, and younger people are more and more liberal and disgusted by ultra right wing Republican behavior. We need to start having a real conversation about what we will do in 10-20 years when decent people have consolidated power to make sure there is a lawful process to brutally respond to this outrageous corruption, even if time has elapsed.
It is important to find lawful ways such that if 10 years or even 20 years elapses, there will be accountability once decent people have consolidated power.
This must be done in a lawful way, respectful of the constitution, and done by voting and legislation, not by illegal means. We should start having these conversations now, openly, fully advocating for lawful means of coming into power, including waiting for younger people to be of voting age, and a method for accountability.
Ultimately, laws come from the people, and historical things preventing ex-post-facto regulation can always be changed.
We need to remember Renee Good and have a National Day of Mourning every year to remember this horrible brutality and the evil that ICE has brought upon our country.
I do not consider myself a liberal and this problem should not be put into liberal or conservative terms. We need a coalition of people who recognize the evil of what is happening and want to find a lawful organized way of responding that involves voting for change, emphasizing above all else democratic voting, following the law, and accountability.

181·13 days agoI completely agree. This isn’t so much a failure of business; it’s a failure of the government to properly hurt businesses that enact policies that hurt workers and consumers. And in democratic countries with voters, it’s also the failure of the voters.
This is why we need people like Lina Khan to be given much more power in society. There are good, liberal economists out there who understand that if you don’t regulate externalities, then market systems will cause extreme disfunction in society. Smart economists understand this, elite rich people understand it, the problem is that the bottom tier of society that is ignorant and believes in religious myths is easily deceived by the upper classes.
The result is a society with progressively more unequal wealth distribution, rapidly descending into environmental hell, with a public that is mostly confused, religious, and idioticly upset about market conditions, but glad the evil trans girl won’t be able to play softball.
All of these issues are part of the same problem: how do you convince the poor and stupid to not get tricked by the elite again? But perhaps it’s just impossible. After all, the poor are mostly religious and believe in crazy things like virgin births and flat earth… Until the poor reject such lunacy, or society becomes so awful that they are compelled to reject it, there’s really not much hope for change.

1·13 days agoSo in that situation you need beans and rice and water purification (filters) that last 3 years. It’s expensive, but not impossible. There are people who already have that stored, and most of those people are very smart and well-prepared.

I added a warning to the original post based on what you said.
