  • Bump A bit late, but as promised, here’s the cat pic/tax Say hi to Dottie! Her coat is like a tux, almost all black fur, except white toes & a white patch on her neck that breaks up as it goes to her belly. Tried several times but she wouldn’t open her eyes in the flash, and getting her to move to a more well-lit area is a no go, as she absolutely detests being picked up. We got her from a classmate of mine, she was the grandparents cat, but they were moving into a managed care facility and couldn’t take her with them, so we volunteered to give her a home. She’s pretty chill, being an older cat, and the heat has her laying around doing absolutely nothing even more than usual. She loves being brushed, and I’m still working on getting her winter coat fully combed off so she isn’t suffering more than she has to.

$45 of $85 raised, thanks again to all y’all!

  • Finished with Elden Ring, for good for now I think. Picked up Cobalt Core to scratch the ever-present deck builder/roguelike itch. I keep trying Dwarf Fortress and Rimworld, but I end up bouncing off those because I get bored/frustrated setting up priorities and zones and all that just to watch things go awry because someone didn’t want to build a bedroom/ bathroom/ grave.

Been looking for a 4X I can dive into, really want to try Dominions 6 while the multiplayer is still fresh and decently populated, but I have no income so I’ve been having to get my games off the high seas so to speak, and Dom 6 is niche enough that I haven’t found any that work. Anyone have suggestions for other games in that vein?

  • It’s BIG, and that’s both good and bad.

Good because there’s a ton to explore. They said the dlc landmass was about the size of Limgrave, and that’s true from the map perspective, but holy shit there’s a lot of layers to it. When you first start you see a lot of places that you seemingly can’t get to, but as you explore it, you find caves and canyons and cliffside trails that you can follow into areas that are inaccessible by most paths.

Which leads to the bad part, some of these areas are almost too well hidden, and some are very sparsely populated, with maybe one or two interesting drops tucked away in the corners and an almost obligatory field boss to deal with or avoid.

All in all, I’m having fun with it, but theres been some frustration as well, partly because it feels like you are meant to explore and find the upgrade fragments rather than just go through the story, as a lot of the bosses will one or two shot you without enough upgrades.
