Global News@lemmy.zip•Trump sues BBC for $10 billion over documentary speech editEnglish
1·4 days agoAnother article I came across said ‘10 million dollars’ and my first thought was “Isn’t that chump change for Trump?”. It’s billion, now it all makes sense.
I second migadu. I’ve been with them for about a year, no problems so far, works nice with thunderbird and K9-mail.

12·8 days agoTell me about it. My day of birth is closer to WW2 than to the present. So depressing!
Same. I was on Fedora Atomic but the stench hardened so I jumped over to nixOS a few weeks back. Glad I did.
I went into the doctor’s yesterday and that was the image of health care she sketched out: due to future budget cuts and the inverted demographics pyramid, people with less healthy lifestyles at some point in the future will no longer be helped. Pretty unsettling to hear such things. I guess we can do away with seatbelts and motorcycle helmets too then.

World News@quokk.au•Hong Kong sees near-record low election turnout amid discontent over apartment fire
4·12 days agoInciting others to boycott the vote was criminalised in 2021. On Sunday, Hong Kong’s Independent Commission Against Corruption (Icac) said that four men, aged between 31 and 44, had been arrested for allegedly inciting others not to vote, or to cast invalid votes, in social media comments. The Icac said all up it had arrested 11 people for allegedly contravening laws in relation to the offence during the current election, and three had so far been prosecuted.
It seems people not voting is less preferable for the regime than them voting for a puppet.
Anything Elder Scrolls kept me busy much longer than the main story, most notably Morrowind. Also, I replayed GTA IV (+ stories) last week, was heaps of fun, especially compared to GTA V which I played a few months back. Read Dead Redemption 2 is a good one for this list as well, I enjoyed that one immensely, but I mainly focused on the main quest during that run-through, so this is a good reminder to myself to pick this up again soon (sadly I fell back into the pull of Satisfactory so it might be some weeks/months/… before I get to it)

33·16 days agoI hadn’t meant to accuse you of pride, it was a poorly chosen term to indicate whether ‘union of a limited subset of cultures’ is a positive thing (= something to be proud of). I had no idea it would cause offense.

86·16 days agoSchengen is about free movement of goods and workers. You might infer cultures from there, but as soon as that culture is Syrian or Afghan, there is pushback, so I’m not sure a union of cultures actually exists here… Perhaps for a very limited subset of cultures, but I’m not sure that’s something to be proud of, as that smells more of fascism than inclusion.
