Truth. Been using macOS as my day to day for 15 years and was doing Solaris UNIX admin work for years before that. To this day, some stuff, it’s just easier to open the terminal.

I’m curious what the resource usage is running your own instance? Is it something that could run on a low power system if you’re the only user using it to access the fediverse?
Safari most of the time just for simplicity and integration. First fallback is Firefox. On the very rare occasion that I have to fall back yet again, Brave.
