The Dems starting a strike fund or going to distribute food while we strike?
We should use this getting into the news as an opportunity to discuss a general strike for something more important that his job, like abolishing ICE and freeing ppl from detention. We need to be strengthening mutual aid and helping everyone get a couple weeks worth of dry food so that ppl have the means to strike
Dems are the definition of controlled opposition:

Biden could have made Israel stop committing genocide with our taxes and our weapons. Biden and Obama could have reeled in the abuses happening in ICE detention. They could have worked with Congress to pass some legislation to limit executive power, tax wealth, get Roe v Wade made law. Biden could have pushed through pending immigration cases, he pardons his own ppl but not our ppl?
Btw I voted for Harris, basically straight ticket Dem, just to keep the other assholes out. But the further we get into this regime the clearer it becomes that is no a strategy that leads to meaningful change. That’s one of the things I like about a slowdown, it’s something that can pick up steam and become more intense. Slowdowns and general strikes have been used in the past by labor organizers and I don’t think it being illegal should stop us. The shitty labor laws we have aren’t going anywhere unless labor stands up to the people who own this country
This is why I think we should do a slowdown. In a slowdown we’re still drawing paychecks, we don’t need the union funds. Political strikes and general strikes aren’t legal here at all whereas a slowdown might be a natural outgrowth of the stress we’re feeling about ice, the economy, govt pedos, etc

I am relieved this kid has been released, but I remember that there’s still over 1000 people in Dilley, and Dilley is one among many. These kids are being fed rotten food, given dirty water for baby formula, often separated from their families. With ICE committing so many crimes, how many of these kids are getting trafficked?

I agree that forming unions is super important. A slowdown might even indicate which of our coworkers would be willing to unionize. This is important because ppl working for union busting companies don’t know who at work they can trust.
It would be great if there could be coordination with the big unions going on strike while the rest of us do a slowdown. My industry (IT) is not unionized, but if we slowed down it would have a huge economic impact that would actually impact the oligarchs. It would also impede their ability to track immigrants. We could also start a slowdown next week and then the unions could join us.
I think that the demands we should have are to free every person in ICE/CBP detention and to completely disband ICE and CBP. Freeing the people in detention is one of the reasons I think we should do a slowdown ASAP. Waiting for the unions to schedule a strike means that more people are suffering, being abused/raped & being killed by ICE/CBP
