I know you’re feeling awful about this, and I’m sorry you’ve been carrying that pain with you. I wish I knew what to do to make it hurt less. This whole year has been completely fucked hasn’t it? Seeing the things happening around the world feels like we’re being flattened too, doesn’t it? We will just do what we can to show our solidarity. Not all of us can physically get out and protest. It doesn’t mean we don’t want to or that people aren’t in the process right now in attempting to organize a safe protest. Believe me, they are.

Take care of yourself too and as hard as it is, try to get in a decent amount of rest. I get the sense that you are feeling a desperate urgency to do something, for literally anyone to do anything. No protest is a waste.

But also remember to be kind. Are you mad at the lgbt+ community for something? I’m confused as to what it could be. A lot of us are at the same protests, don’t worry.

I’d never heard the original, but when I first heard Elisapie’s version I loved that it had that slow, angsty sound reminiscent of 90s singers like Sheryl Crow. I’ve been on Lemmy for about two months and there is a good amount of left-leaning folks here. I definitely consider myself in the left-wing category. I hover somewhere between a bit liberal, a bit socialist, and a bit of a commie, but absolutely no authoritarianism.

I assume this is referring to art but if not then disregard this. Yes, there’s countless tutorials provided by artists. There’s free videos online. Tumblr is a great place to learn drawing. The reason not to steal from artists through AI is for same reason I don’t want to use apple or windows, google. It’s corrupt at its core. It contributes to hurting and screwing over people. Buying art from artists or even just downloading another artist’s work supports another human because even if you didn’t buy it, people will still inevitably want to know the artist. Ideally, a person should buy the work from the artist, the same way if you go to a farmer’s market, you should pay the vendor for the veggies they grew. But even if you steal or pirate art from someone, someone will want to know who made it.

Opensource and art are not so unalike. from my clueless but learning tech newb pov, linux users or any non corporate tech user is doing everything from scratch. The command terminal is their sketchbook.
