On my TLC I found the brightness of some HDR content is actually dimmer then when set to SDR, so I just have HDR off and it’s way way better. I’m using a 4K 3rd gen and the color balance setting.

That’d jack up the price more. Don’t think it’ll happen.
I just got mine two weeks ago and absolutely love it. I think the only thing lacking is AV1 codec support.
How much lighter and smaller does it need to be?
I’m just gonna be blunt. Last week I was in the same boat that you’re in and I decided to just bite the bullet get the 2022 128GB model and I absolutely made the right decision. All we know about the next Apple TV are rumors that it might have the A16 or A17 processor and it might come out in 2024. Why suffer needlessly by waiting on a rumor when the current model is sitting right there? Outside of maybe 8K video I can’t imagine what more one could ask of an Apple TV.
