As moderator, I won’t encourage or promote the site to be entirely honest. I am really just trying to safe guard an open and safe forum for OSRS folks so any one interested in going beyond that is welcome to.

dinosoup@lemmy.worldto Lemmy.World Announcements@lemmy.world•Reddit CEO Digs In Heels As User Outrage Engulfs Website6·2 years agoYeah Mlem is very buggy and missing a lot of big stuff right now. That being said, folks should use it to at minimum provide feedback so it can improve.
dinosoup@lemmy.worldMto Old School Runescape@lemmy.world•Adding A New Skill: Sailing Core GameplayEnglish2·2 years agoI voted for shamanism but honestly it was mostly because I wasn’t confident sailing would be done well. I knew they could do shamanism because it was very similar to other skills. The gameplay for Sailing has definitely changed my tune!

dinosoup@lemmy.worldto You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK that kbin.social is now federating, adding hundreds of communities and ~26k more users content6·2 years agoLOL, how silly. A federated community going unfederated is just a small echo chamber. See ya beehaw!

dinosoup@lemmy.worldto Lemmy.World Announcements@lemmy.world•The blackout is starting to have a financial impact on Reddit, but we must stay dark!11·2 years agoAgreed, I am willing to bet the blackout reached at least 40-50% of users in some way.
dinosoup@lemmy.worldto Android@lemmy.world•Why do you personally prefer using an Android phone?English3·2 years agoI actually use iOS but I’ve had phones on both sides of the aisle several times in the last 15 years. I work in cybersec and android excels at that kind of thing. Infinitely more power to access systems, use terminal, pull up ip based webpages, and a far more comprehensive app suite to do so. Personally, I’ve just found iOS more stable in my day to day but I have an android tablet for best of both worlds.
dinosoup@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•how do you handle top google searches being reddit?English1·2 years agoOmg I could kiss you. Reddit has been an excellent bullshit filter for google but the blackouts made it tough.
dinosoup@lemmy.worldOPto homeassistant@lemmy.world•NFC tags are a complete game changer!!English1·2 years agoFor sure. I would honestly love to not but I work from home so it’s easy to watch a movie and wait for a teams notification if I’m needed :)
I don’t see why not? I can engage the mod over there.
dinosoup@lemmy.worldOPto homeassistant@lemmy.world•NFC tags are a complete game changer!!English1·2 years agoDefinitely curious, how do you set these up and what do you recommend getting?
dinosoup@lemmy.worldOPto homeassistant@lemmy.world•NFC tags are a complete game changer!!English1·2 years agoWith iPhone shortcuts, you don’t actually read anything off the tag, it just recognizes it and runs a shortcut that calls a home assistant entity (least that’s how I do it).
dinosoup@lemmy.worldto homeassistant@lemmy.world•Sourcing Local Network Only, HA Friendly DevicesEnglish2·2 years agoYeah, your edit definitely got it. Looking back in time, if I knew what I know now when I bought all my devices, I would’ve gone exclusively zigbee. Faster, extremely reliable and they expand and remap to each other automatically. I’ve slowly started replacing my non zigbee stuff with em.
dinosoup@lemmy.worldto homeassistant@lemmy.world•Smart button as a connected doorbell?English2·2 years agoSince this is pretty straight forward, I think most any “single click” Zwave switch would work? I love IKEAs stuff but I think it’s mostly Zigbee.
dinosoup@lemmy.worldto homeassistant@lemmy.world•The Google Home script editor is now live in public previewEnglish2·2 years agoMe too, home assistant integration in google is lackluster to say the least. I think it’s mostly Google’s fault but even just like devices not showing their correct state is pretty annoying…
I figure for the sake of visibility, leaving it the same would make it easiest for folks to find.
dinosoup@lemmy.worldto Lemmy.World Announcements@lemmy.world•Redundant communities across instancesEnglish5·2 years agoDoubly awesome - not only can you subscribe to both versions of said /c/aww on (most) any server, you will see the content inline with your normal feed so it’s effectively just several versions of the same thing.
I have used Reddit for almost 15 years now… This is very reminiscent of Reddit from 2012ish, loved the homie vibe of subreddits then, now the site just feels like a megacorp. Loving Lemmy’s direction so far.
Sorry! I had an incredibly busy weekend… No I sincerely think Lemmy is a great forum and I have genuinely left reddit. However, I only hold this page because I want to create the same kind of space on Lemmy and make sure content is well moderated. I have been a redditor for almost 15 years and a osrs player for about as long. I know what I loved about the subreddit and I just want to make sure its properly maintained here. That being said, that’s really all I am going to do is moderate. Hopefully that’s more clear!
