I’m sure they have the statistics that tells them how many purchases aren’t being completed once users start seeing the real price. It really puts things into context. 7,50€ for what looks like a lego skin?

It kinda depends on the company, but with growing seniority it will become less and less actual coding. I spent less than 50% of my time on coding. The rest is meetings, coordination with team or stakeholders or other teams I need something from, answering questions, brainstorming, writing specifications, writing technical documentation, research on tools or technology, staying up to date on tech, testing stuff, reviewing other peoples code, root cause analysis, etc.
Actual coding for me is very rarely copying anything. AI assistants made searching for code snippets mostly obsolete. Also, very little clicking is happening. Even the graphical interface we usually write in code (no designer is used).

What does this have to do with .NET? AFAIK all the programs mentioned in the article are written in JavaScript, except Calculator. Which is probably Swift.

So long as it’s clear that it an imitation… how is that harmful? There is no chance anyone is confused whether it’s meat or not, these products usually have a big sticker telling you it’s vegan as well. I’ve never seen a product that tried to hide that it’s not meat, they literally advertise with it.
What an absolute joke this decision is. The whole point is to provide an alternative to meat, this is so clearly lobbying to protect the holy meat industry.
Or just services.AddSingleton<X>. There’s plenty to criticize in C#, or any language, but this ain’t it. Most of the new language features just make the code shorter without loosing clarity. Really liking newer C# versions.
My theory: they’re just trying to push stock price for the short term as much as possible (by looking good on paper). Then they can cash out and let others figure out what to do with the dumpster fire in the long term.
They’ve made so many short-sighted decisions with Reddit lately, burning all good will of the community in the process, I can’t really explain it another way.

It’s a bit more than that, it’s a symptom of rampant misinformation, a distrust in political leadership, a lack of empathy towards others, increasing wealth inequality, etc.

For what? “Hey Grok, which country should we invade next?”

I’m not sure, it’s my first Fairphone - time will tell. It’s guaranteed to get 7 years of updates if I’m not mistaken. I think for my use cases it will be sufficient, I don’t play games on mobile for example.

It’s a good mid-range phone - nice display, sturdy build - but a little bit thicker than most phones, which is probably due to repairability. Camera is ok, but not remarkable. Battery life is perfectly fine too, I’m charging it to 80% and it lasts me two days.
Overall really nothing fancy, but at the same time I don’t feel like I’m making any big compromises considering the focus on sustainability. Software has improved a lot, still needs a bit more work - but the most glaring issue, which was stuttering/low framerate after unlocking for a good minute is gone.

I was pretty annoyed that none of the reviews mentioned software issues, at all. Don’t get me wrong, I like the phone - but at launch it had many software problems - made me wonder if reviewers are even using the devices they’re testing for more than an hour. Fortunately with the latest patch it’s in a decent state now.

Cyberpunk and reality are starting to match more and more over time. 😂

Wow, I was looking at their product just yesterday for an evaluation. Immediately got a bad feeling by their website, almost as if everyone working on this puts in as little care as possible. And now it makes total sense.
The old saying, the fish rots from the head, certainly applies here. Well I’m not going to recommend this platform, that is for certain.

Great straw man arguments. I’m just gonna block you, because clearly a waste of time to argue with you.

By dismissing any criticism with this phrase you’re no better. Let’s just agree that everyone has different tastes, and Discovery doesn’t care about many things that people loved about TNG, TOS, etc. - that doesn’t make it bad, but it sure isn’t going to please all fans of the older shows.

“just one more big innovation, then we can all work less.” Yes sure, we’ve heard that before.

Out of all the lifestyle changes we can make, this is so unbelievably minor it is not worth mentioning, let alone make a campaign for.
Until the government and corporations take climate change seriously, making changes on an individual level won’t make a meaningful difference. Doesn’t mean we should do nothing… but come on, this is just stupid.

We need to do better in supporting independent journalism, and journalism in general. Replacing perhaps slightly biased newspapers with influencers is not a good solution… just makes it a million times worse. False information can spread so easily nowadays because influencers don’t even bother checking anything, let alone asking experts. A lot of influencers also blatantly pander to their audience.
I think they are fully aware of how ridiculous this is, they just don’t care so long as their paycheck looks good.
