If it’s a plastic film style, I take a strip of packing or Scotch tape and put it diagonally across a corner. Use the two free sides to lift up. The idea is you want to lift off a corner of the protector where it has the least adhesive.

We have an old X we’re keeping for kid occasional use. it’s stuck on iOS 15 and it’s throttling enough the keyboard is a bit laggy.
