Along with what the others state. In general people make more friends and get a better experience by living on campus then off for at least the first year.

andrewta@lemmy.worldOPto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why do people insist on not answering ALL the questions in an email or text message?31·5 days agoSo when I’m writing to tech support (and they DO NOT offer phone support) exactly how do you suggest i call them?
I put in the two or three questions to save time. They can learn to read or get out of the business. There is a reason I put the questions in one email so they can read all three and get the answers back to each of the questions. If the three questions are related to each other show me the problem. This is especially important if the three questions are either related to each other, or contingent on each other.
andrewta@lemmy.worldOPto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why do people insist on not answering ALL the questions in an email or text message?7·5 days agoThis is a perfect example.
For me it’s
*Is my firewall set correctly (with how the firewall is set )
And
*I will hold off on installing the new program until I hear if the firewall is correct
The answer I get back?
*Did you install the new program?
Are you serious?

andrewta@lemmy.worldOPto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why do people insist on not answering ALL the questions in an email or text message?913·6 days agoI’m sorry but there is no difference between putting them in bullet points, or typing like I did. People need to learn to read.
Side note :
I’ve tried bullet points.
I’ve tried putting multiple return carriages between each question.
I’ve putting all the questions end on end
and it makes no difference end result is the same.
Add in a lot of the other comments saying they have the same problem it isn’t just me

Yeah, buying after the crash happens makes no sense. If you can somehow( for lack of a better phrase foresee )a crash happening, and then sell before the crash, then buy back in after the crash. That makes sense because then you’re selling high and buying low.
But buying after the crash makes no sense because now you’re already down. I feel for you on that one
Yeah, that’s what I did with my 401(k) put into a money market. It’s been there for a while now and after I moved it, the markets have only dropped. Could it in theory come back before I have a chance to buy back in, yeah, that is possibility but at least I still have the money that I moved from the normal investments over to a money market account. At least I didn’t go negative on that.
Even if I bought back in right this moment, I would still have saved the severe droppings of the last week and a half. Only is I don’t know if we’re still going down yet and how far. I do believe we are still going in the downward motion I think it’s coming back yet. Yeah it’s pretty much gambling on my money, but I honestly believe that this is the better option.
Had $120,000 at the start of the year. Had planned to pull at the beginning of the year, I didn’t. It dropped to $100,000 by early March of I remember correctly. I moved the money into a money market account after that. Where I had the money at has tanked quite a bit more after that. Not sure when I’ll get back in yet. Yes I realize it could recover before I get back in but so far I’ve made the right decision. S&P took major hits recently.

andrewta@lemmy.worldto News@lemmy.world•Dow futures tumble as the massive market sell-off continues.75·9 days agoTell that to the people who own it. They might have a few choice words in response. Everything has the value it has because people are willing to pay it. No difference between a Porsche, a simple house, an iPhone, a share of any company, or one bitcoin.
The value of anything is what someone is willing to pay for that thing.
andrewta@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•what's the best strategy to follow with a new boss who wants me dumbed down?3·9 days agoThis is an important thing to consider. I think what I would suggest is find a way to get impartial people together and talk to . People who will actually be honest with you and tell you hey this is what’s really going on. I’d say make friends at work this will take time. Then ask them. Another suggestion is sometimes one hospital will put out calls for nurses to come in and help out from another hospital. Sometimes they will call other states. Volunteer for those jobs. Usually those jobs last from one to three months. At the end of that period of time to sit down with your bossand your coworkers and ask them about this. I mean, you are now leaving their unit. Maybe they’ll be completely honest with you and say yes you are a great person or maybe they’ll say holy crap. You never stop talking you’re really annoying.
andrewta@lemmy.worldto News@lemmy.world•Jaguar Land Rover to pause US shipments over tariffs6·9 days agoNot related to the article but there was a news report on TV from a local news station. They were interviewing a car lot manager. They just sold a $100,000 car. They were sweating because they didn’t know if they could get it on the ship from overseas before the tariff hit. If they couldn’t , the cost of that vehicle, they estimated 120,000. And the dealership was gonna have to eat the20 grand. Because the contract was already signed.

We can demand anything we want. The reality is that’s never going to happen. Want a change? Change the laws. Make it so they can’t do it.
Good luck with that though. The government is screwed at this point.
