  • A good solution to China dumping green tech on the market?

Everyone else ALSO dumps green tech on the market.

Yeah, there’s the problem with rare earth refinement, but that just means someone has to come up with a green solution that’s cheaper than China abusing its population and destroying its ecosystem to provide rare earths.

In other words, the solution to China dumping and accruing the costs isn’t political, it’s to beat them at their own game, in an ethical way. And it should be possible. Maybe not with CEOs pulling down trillion dollar bonuses, but if the people at the top tightened their belts, it could easily be done.

Just imagine if a few countries considered ecological defense to be a significant part of their military budget.

  • Seems to me that the purpose of a martial art and of MMA differ significantly. Most martial arts are about finding a unity and discipline in your life and passing that on to others.

MMA seems to be about finding the movement combinations from various martial arts that combine to cause the most damage to the opponent. I can’t imagine being able to actively practice more than two or three arts at the same time and actually hold to the core principles of all of them.

Takes me back to Karate Kid, really….

  • A TLD is just a name. For my own local network, I use all sorts of TLDs, and 20 years ago I used FreeDNS which let me register my own TLD for free.

What’s different on official Internet TLDs is that there’s a n organization that manages the “official” TLDs, and to register a domain name you have to pay money to one of their representatives to claim exclusive access to a domain name.

Different TLDs within that structure are owned by different entities and have their own restrictions as to who can claim sole use of a domain and how.

But there are now a bunch of newish TLDs that have been sold to raise money for the org as a whole, and their owners can charge whatever they want to register a domain on them.
