That’s true. But technologically, is it feasible? Someone with more experience in that sort of thing should inform the community on what’s possible to prevent.
I think that this is the wrong way to look at it. Reddit wanted to ‘protect’ against AI databases using their content, so they killed APIs. As long as it doesn’t influence the platform, I’m fine with our posts being used for training.
The open-source/decentralization community is, by nature, made up of people who have the interests of community at heart. Those contributing to Lemmy with their presence and even their hardware are doing so because they WANT this kind of community. There’s nobody in charge but us, and so we have nothing to guide us but our morals and our dreams.
