Hi, another comment voting for the laptop (sorry).I have music tabs, plot points and relevant characters notes, and maybe even some images open for locations and scenes. The game I’m currently running comes with a screen (mouse guard) but I’ve found no good use for it yet, and I roll dice in the open cos not doing so feels silly. But if you really want a screen, most games have some made. Chronicles of Darkness games have tables and how to use xp, but again, never found them too useful. Keeping good flow and an immersive setting for rp is more important to me, and a screen gets in the way.

Suggests that they are actually a net positive but of course it is debatable. That said, it is quite sad that nationalism and individualism became so standard around the west. Africa and Latin America have historically been the backyard to do what the imperial west pleases for ages. A bit of solidarity does not hurt, and the impact on quality of life that this has for immigrants is never considered in the total positive, just “the economy”. We’re worse off bc of super rich parasites. Let’s stop this reverse robin hood.

You say people are willing to give a large portion of their produced value for “heavily reduced risk of income fluctuation”? Like that’s what the exchange is. Like if the company does bad and bankrupts they’ll still have their job and earnings. Tell them everyone at the business will earn a fluctuating amount of the wealth the company makes equally distributed and if the company does bad it will lower, but you’re all in it together. xd

It feels like we’ve been stating the obvious for so long and it’s good to see it validated. But as others have said, this are no surprising news. Precise simulation and high end graphics make no sense if they don’t play a function in expanding the fun of the experience. We keep relearning the same thing over and over again. There’s a lot of fun to be had playing with friends, but also just having good game design.

Not necessarily the topic itself, but many factors affect IQ tests performance. Our perception and assessment of the world around us is strongly biased by our culture and education. The one factor you mentioned being the language is amongst many but its relevance should not be downplayed.

I admit I wrote that comment being reductionist. Mostly because IQ tests and the conversation around them is often reductionist too, and lends itself to western elitism. The history of the study of intelligence is terrible and we should be better at dealing with the topic these days.

In any case, people should start viewing IQ testing as “cultural testing”. We know it doesn’t really capture “intelligence” but a western way of thinking about things. So basically some twins are more educated in western thinking than their siblings, and it has to do with their upbringing into the culture. Not surprised.

I call BS, no mention of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 1 and 2 and no Cyberpunk. They fail to give a clear idea of what qualifies as a rpg, but I guess the definition itself is a bit too broad.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. Amazing game, just like its predecessor. Clunky movement and combat as usual though, kinda sad that it did not improve that much. Still improved though.

I play cis males only, but not as a rule. I just generally will make male characters, likely in part to feeling better prepared at interpreting them, and in part that I feel like I would not play another gender correctly. I understand that it is an illusion, as I could simply play them as any other human/non-human being, especially as I’ve played other species without issue. But I feel like I would not be able to give them the nuance and characteristics they deserve, and would end up defaulting to cis male attitudes.

I also tend to want to play old characters, as I feel like young ones are too boring. They tend to have too short of a history to have an interesting identity and lore behind them, and I love the idea of facing large challenges later in life while struggling with the decisions of the past and our own will to change. I played in a one-shot where I made an old farm veterinarian that would roam the lands helping people with their animals, who had a fall-off with one of his sons for joining the army of an oppressive despot, and a merchant daughter that traded in stolen artifacts. Rumour had it my character had killed his own wife, and in reality what had happened was that he poisoned her because she was sick and suffering but the religious fanatics did not want to let her die while she suffered. I love characters with personality problems, dense pasts, and a complicated family.

Ghost of Tsushima. After completing both Horizon games because people on the internet + a friend said it was good… THEY ARE NOT ON THE SAME LEVEL AT ALL (imo). To me, Ghost is FAR better than horizon games, runs better, the story is muuuuch better, the characters are great, the gameplay is addictively fun, music is amazing, setting is beautiful (though not historically accurate), etc. If you are looking at ghost vs horizon on what to play, pick ghost a thousand times. Horizon is not a bad game, just not on the same league as people on the internet make it sound. Honestly the story and characters are bland and lacking. Idk why but it feels like people these days have a low bar when it comes to fantasy, likely because there is an insane hunger for it. Ghost is not a masterpiece at all, it is just better than Horizon. Looking forward to Ghost of Yotei.

Just found out about this through this post. Went ahead and removed gmaps, then added CoMaps. It might be missing a way to add shortcut buttons on the top from the saved places. But great overall.
