Wow. Friday is here and my list of things to do is getting smaller. Just the one thing scheduled in the calendar meeting wise, but when I got in this morning there has been a massive failure at one location that I have to deal with as top priority.

Put everything in place and all of a sudden I’m hit with the sleepies as a result of our coffee beans running out and there not being enough for my normal IV drip of coffee that would last me the day.

On Sunday I’ve made a plan to do a bunch of snacky cooking while my wife takes the son to the park for a few ours. By the time they’re back I’m hoping to have a smorgasboard of delights for us to kill off the evening with a movie. Maybe OG Space Jam? Other suggestions appropriate for a 3-4 year old are welcome.

  • That’s awesome.

I have been trying to subliminally encourage my wife to learn to knit/crochet/sew for years, I think it’s a great hobby to have but I’m just not dexterous enough. It would be a good one to keep her from mindlessly scrolling as she’s trying to avoid at the moment and it would also allow me to ask for cool crocheted figures and I’ve always liked the idea of having a bunch of plain shirts that have some custom pattern sewn into them. Selfish? Maybe.

Got any patterns and tools I could casually leave in her evening chill spot and she may just suddenly do from a beginner and get her excited to do more?

  • God, by the time I got to the end of AofShield I was so done with it. they spun it around so many times with time loops, space battles, trying to work the fact that “the snap” happened into the universe. God there was so much to remember. Remember all the mutants? The Darkhold?

I was glad to be done with it, even if I can look back and say for the most part while I was watching it, I was having fun.

  • What is the polite way to tell someone that the smell of a horse that died 2 weeks ago shouldn’t be coming out of your ass at 10AM?

Anyway, I’ve been watching Australian MasterChef. It’s fun to watch and is one of the few cooking shows where there is a mix of “I can cook better than most of these people” and “Oh that’s a good trick I’ll do that in the future”. It’s an easy watch with my wife and judge the contestants, make up our own dishes and rate theirs based on appearance and imagined flavour. 😂

  • Tell me more friend. I had a browse, so you’ve set up your own instance with only your account on. Then from there, you can essentially manage your own version of lemmy/kbin etc. with your own subscriptions and it’ll federate those magazines?

I think this could be the answer for the way I intend to go forward.

  • Haha, well it’s cultivated over years. I don’t think I could live anywhere that didn’t have some form of decent restaurant options and people I could occasionally subject to my imitation of good cooking. As for music, I’m not like the headbanging rock live music type, but a casual evening listening to Hans Zimmer? That’s a music event for me.

You must have chosen to live out in the sticks if that isn’t a little bit of an option?

  • Going out tonight to have a nice steak at a new Steakhouse in town. Then stroll down the hill to see some live music be played in the venue I got married in.

No child to look after tonight so a nice full night sleep 🤨

Tomorrow hosting two friends and going to make a Beef Wellington for the first time, excited to do that.
