There’s not a lot on there either so I’d recommend subscribing for a month or two to watch their stuff and the resubscribe when new stuff comes out.

It’s probably best to say that physical is better for now….

I changed my Netflix back to standard but felt that the quality had dropped but maybe it was just what I was watching, so I’ve put it back to premium but am I just convincing myself that it’s better….?

So that’s an interesting feature because essentially you are looking to buy/rent a movie and the Apple TV app actually points out to you that it’s available on a streaming site, often you might already be paying for that streaming site and so can watch it for free.

You have to remember that those of us building movie libraries are not the majority, and this feature is actually quite a nice touch by Apple to everyday users as they won’t waste their money buying/renting a movie they can already watch on streaming site.

However, I agree it’s frustrating to us as it actually changes the movie quality listed to whatever the streaming site is showing it in, so Apple TV may have a 4K version you can buy but Prime is showing it in HD so the Apple TV page on lists it as HD and you have to search to find the option to buy it but this option does show the quality you’re buying!

There’s a lot of stuff available in 4K on Blu-ray but not on iTunes yet, it will be to do with licensing issues.

Apple updates movies to 4K all the time, but as I’m sure you can appreciate it’s quite an undertaking to update every movie so it will be 4K eventually.

I’m also building a digital library on the Apple TV app atm, my current method is to look at the 4K page each week and see what 4K movies on offer and buy the ones I like. (4K page isn’t on iTunes, use the Apple TV app).

Ah I’ve just found all the news articles for ITunes shutting down but they’re from four years ago! I thought I remembered something about Apple TV and Apple Music replacing them but was confused why they are still a thing today!

I’ve recently started to build a collection again, I used to have a large physical collection in the early 2000s but then cleared it all out in my minimalist phase.

I pretty much only buy 4K movies I like that are on offer on Apple TV app and relevant bundles, I’ve accrued about 100 movies in 6 months.

I wouldn’t necessarily apply that logic to the Apple TV box though as the apps on there are still designed by each individual streaming service, although Apple does tighten the range they can play within.

A lot of movies are supposed to have grain as some directors like to add it in, some have more than others, there’s whole threads dedicated to the this in other Reddit groups.

Turn the HomePods off at the wall, give it a minute, then switch it back on.

I had the same issue after I had fibre broadband put in, I switched it all off to connect Ethernet to the Apple TV box and then got that error.
