I imagine part of the problem the Democrats have in developing ready counter strategies is imagining the depths to which their opponent will sink.

Predictable tragedies that could have been avoided are the saddest.
The politician and the ‘health official’ are on the opposite sides of the issue that I assumed from the summary… what world.

If I were the boss here the first one would be to let people know this is the new normal, but I probably wouldn’t fire anyone or do much shuffling as a result of the first round, but otherwise conduct the process very seriously. Well, that’s what I’d want to do, but I have a lot of trouble with the word ‘serious’ and other such words that serious people hold court with.
I’d expect that someone like Carney will, at minimum, make an example of someone to put the fear into the others. That’s what TV and movie logic says to do anyway. I guess we’ll find out if he is a movie guy soon.

They also seem to be claiming that the lake has chosen this name for itself. I wonder who in their administation is claiming to divine the desires of large bodies of waters - an important discovery if true!

Well they had to be able to credibly threaten that they could build a windfarm, so that’s probably worth a few hundred grand to a some amount of millions depending on where they got to in the process.
I wonder if they’d like to sell the land rights they’d have lined up to someone else who might like to not do a wind farm.

If the government wanted the people to have it they could have stipulated that or, better yet, given it directly to the people. You need a complicit government for ‘privatized profit; socialized loses’

Being financial able to contribute is required to validate an opinion. Just like only the wealthy should vote.

Yep, even if we (humans) started doing everything right today, we’ll still be deteriorating for years. That is my very limited understanding.
Canadians might not lead the way on deaths by starvation in the coming years, but we are all on this ball together. It is our duty to act to prevent this disaster, and as a relatively young and relatively wealthy nation I would say our proportion of that duty should be greater than simply our percentage of causing it.

She is a soulless opportunist who has built her powerbase on top of a doomsday cult. I’d say when she heard the news that “canada hates them” she said to herself “great, we’ll take them all” and a little smile kissed her lips.

The leader who does it will be one name everyone knows for many many years. I would think that would be attractive to people who seek a public life.

If there were actually exercise bikes involved at least we could laugh our way toward the end.

Time for that class action so we can all get our $5.29 each?

It seems these conservative parties are often, in the very beginning, a core group of fiscally-right people who actively decide they will strike a devil’s bargain with the social-right with the laughable intention that they could keep them in check.

I’d say those billionaires are ripe enough. Time to bring in the harvest.
Hey, it is difficult to reach your butthole when you are twice the healthy BMI. And the back inflexibility from sitting 16hrs a day doesn’t help either.

Considering the crazy things they are willing to write down, I’ve got to wonder what they aren’t…

The albertan bootlicking politicians are pretty divorced from what the people actually need. If you aren’t wearing a $5000 or more suit they can’t hear you.

I thought that our tariff response would be delayed until mid-september?
I think in the future when Trump announces tariffs we should be announcing counter-tariffs that will come into effect that same time, not waiting it out to see if he actually implements his before deciding. One side may have an advantage of speedier turn-around on implementing such things, which hopefully our people are working to mitigate as much as possible.

People need to realize that there are people who want you to believe you are powerless when you do not have to be.
Yes, I would think for everyone to be vegan or even vegetarian it would need an enlightened society with so much available excess that no one is left at the fringes, or such a small population living in the desolate ruin of the world where humans are the only meat remaining.
