Is this link broken or is it just a problem with my phone/app? (I’m using wefwef)
I was looking forward to seeing news about Reddit taking a hit on Google’s rankings but when I click the link it takes me to an unrelated story with the following headline: “Right time to bring UCC, Opposition should refrain from communal politics: Senior BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi”
Am I the only one having this problem?
It’s a mobile web app, so iOS users can visit https://wefwef.app using Safari, then click the Share icon, the click ‘Add to Home Screen’.
I don’t use Android so I don’t know if there’s a similar process to turn a link to a website into an icon on the Home Screen. I just did a web search and found this website, which I hope is useful for you https://beebom.com/ways-turn-any-website-android-app/

Well that’s strange.
If you happen to have another iPhone, you could use it to rule out your theory that the issue is caused by the caching.
So if you download the Mlem app on a separate iPhone, then it shouldn’t be affected by the cache, which I assume is stored locally on your current iPhone (although I’m also not a iOS dev, so I wouldn’t know if that’s true).
Hmm I didn’t think it was possible for cached app data to remain after the app has been deleted, but I could be wrong.
I was going to suggest that maybe your Lemmy server was busy so you should try again later, but I see on your GitHub issue that you’ve tried two different instances, so that’s probably not the issue.
I assume you’ve already tried restarting your phone, and I assume you are already using the latest version of iOS. I’m not sure if there’s any benefit to deleting and reinstalling the TestFlight app as well?

Oh no, sorry to hear that. Yeah I feel better about only losing my favourites now lol. Have you tried deleting and reinstalling the app?
I don’t know if this is expected behaviour or a bug, but I lost all my favourite subs too, so you’re not the only one who has been affected.
I was only using the favourites feature because I wanted a way to list all the communities that I’m subscribed to. As far as I’m aware, there isn’t a way to view your subs list yet (though please correct me if I’m wrong).

I’d like to make a couple of points if that’s ok:
I had marked some subs as favourites within the Mlem app, but they have been removed from my favourites since the update to version 0.0.7 Beta (I’m not complaining btw, just wanted to make you aware in case it affects other users too).
I noticed that the posts themselves support Dynamic Text (a feature that enables users to choose the size of onscreen text in iOS) as well as the text box to leave a reply…. But the actual comments on the posts are always at a fixed size. It makes it difficult for people with visual impairments because they can’t increase the size of the font in the comments. I can’t find this issue mentioned on the Github board. Am I allowed to request the feature there even though I’m not a dev?

Yeah, it’s most likely caused by Google profiling OP and showing what it thinks OP wants to see.
Out of interest, I just entered “Reddit vs” into DuckDuckGo (which is a search engine that doesn’t profile its users, and it gets most of its search results from Bing). I got the following search suggestions:
